It sounds like you don't have it transformed correctly. Grinder is rock solid in Dino mode. This seemed to be somewhat common user error issue.

Try rotating the robot thighs the other direction during transformation. Not sure if that's what's wrong, but it's worth a try.

Yeah I had the same problem and couldn't figure out what was wrong! I was getting so pissed with it not working... Top half of the Dino tail will not tab together no matter what if you don't have the lower thigh swivel rotated the right way! And the bottom feet rotating to lock into the chest piece pulls it all apart. It's easy to over look and rotate the wrong section. Give it a shot making sure the upper part of the leg at the waist doesn't rotate when you turn the legs. Rotate at the lower point only.

Yup, I rotate the legs at the knee, not the upper thigh for transformation and it tabs together well. The first time I tried I rotated at the upper thigh and it wouldn't tab together. I think that's the problem people are having.

Make sure the thighs are facing the way thiy show in the instructions and that they are not twisted. They have a tendency to twist alittle if the lower leg covers catch them.

Aren't the bot mode head/faces on regular Scoria, Sever, and Soar the exact same as their X version counterparts including the color shade?
If this set of v2 heads/faces are for our regular versions wouldn't we need a 2nd set of v2 heads to go with our X versions?

They do twist easily, but I noticed that the first time around. Also, in response to the other commenter, yes the rotation occurs at the knees, which is a smart way to think about it - I noticed that the correct orientation of the thighs was important from the instructions, which I really always use at least once, and also due to how other fanstoys dinos have this aspect.

No, with all this and a lot of care, pegging the two larger alt mode side posts pulls the top of the back apart easily - without pegging in the two side pegs, the back top holds together OK. I guess it is an abnormality in my copy, which is odd given how many "irregular" issues I had with Sovereign. I think that the golder body piece is not positioned for those pegs, and maybe warped or malformed in some way. I think that shipping to my destination may be an issue. I live in Canada and we are having a turbulent March (as are other people in NA of course), and I am starting to wonder if the extreme temperatures that change regularly is warping stuff that comes to my city. Maybe there is some iffy cargo policy to my town in particular...

I am going to try a return/exchange for this item and see how that goes.

Anyone find that the included metal bits for replacing the fragile bits on Soar have a bad finish? Compared to how the original bits look like on Soar, the replacement bits I received look very amateur in comparison and have many surface bubble imperfections, which the original plastic ones lack totally. Anyone else encounter this?

On a facebook group, this guy had his gold paint flaking off? Is that a common issue with Grinder? Instead of returning to BBTS, he took off all the gold off the chest. User error?

I'm really enjoying Grinder more than I thought I ever would, particularly in robot mode, he's such a well made toy but that dino head is full of fail, man, it's not bad looking, it actually looks good, it's just not Grimlock. I just have to tell it as it is. I just hope FT comes through with that toon accurate dino head soon. It would truly make him a spectacular and a more complete figure in my eyes.
