My impression from some of the things I was told about Defendor, was that the diecast was used based off their experience with other robot/mecha toys they owned from Japan, not made by Hasbro/Takara. I think TF fans forget there are tons of other mecha toys out in Japan that do things differently then Hasbro and Takara. So there is a good chance they went with some diecast, because maybe they own a figure from Bandai/other company that did a good job with it?

    I love the video.
That is the correct way to handle expensive toys. :D

I am extremely pleased with this figure. Mine is in a "Pile of Loot" with BBTS. Vangelus' review has cured any skepticism I might have had since I don't have it in hand yet. Though, I do agree that there is too much grey and not enough green, but that can be fixed with an air brush.

After seeing that the helicopter mode is an actual separate mode, I think I'll be getting this one.

Nice HD V and good review. For all that toy is, which is a lot, it still doesn't feel like a Transformer to me. I think I like fan kits better that enhance existing Transformers. Besides, I'm happy enough with my Botcon and Universe Springers.

Great review, I'm actually now considering picking him up, it'll have to be an in-person thing at Botcon though.

I can understand that. But still don't see the need to encorporate into a figure when they didn't have to.

It's a nice touch, sure. But it's not for everyone. Either way, It's not going to keep me from buying it.

dude, he looks SO FUCKING GOOD with the rest of the "Classics/Universe" versions of the movie toys

    His poses are EPIC

It could be a personal taste of the designer or maker and also a test drive for the next project.

    DAMMIT!

I was thinking I'd pass on this and use my money for the Bruticus Upgrade kit (which I'll be trying to do in the future anyway), but your video sold me on this guy. Of course, it helps that Springer (who this figure is NOT, but is based on in spirit, right? Right? ;) ) is one of my favorite Season 3 characters.

Yeaaaahhhhhh.....I had to hurry and get mine as well before 'Springer' went out of stock.

I'm still anxiously waiting for the 'Rodimus' and 'Bruticus' upgrades though.

It's not just that the older diehards like us want diecast, but we want it done RIGHT. For that, I am glad a fangroup(FansProject), went ambitious and added diecast content. The fact that they went out of their way to make sure there was minimal diecast to diecast content is impressive.

The last diecast Transformers I handled were Transformers Titaniums and I was underwhelmed. Doesn't seem like I will be with the Defender.

Meh on the diecast. Painted over so what's the point exactly? Seems like maybe this could have come in at 60 instead.

That said, I have no life so I don't spend much money, so I can splurge on TFs.

His review made the decision for me after seeing the helicopter mode and some of the playability on the figure.

And, umm, I think this is a fantastic interpretation of G1 cybertronian aesthetic. They really really really need to do a Kup, ad call him 'Bowl' or maybe 'Puk'
