I think Energon has gotten less homages than Armada.

 

I have to vote Armada Overload because this figure looks so much like him.

 

More so than Energon Ultra Magnus or Universe Sentinel Maximus?

 

Well it's all the same mould, but only one of the three was an on screen character.  

 

All three appeared in comics, and honestly, does the Armada animated series really count? ;-)

 

It gave us Unicron, for that we have to acknowledge it.

 

No Unicron was in the '86 Movie.

We were talking about the Armada animated series vs the comics. How is the Unicron toy part of the animated series? Unicron was in the comics too.

 

I think if you'll look back through the posts you can see the logic connections between them that resulted in the post. =P
Besides I honestly doubt they would have made a Unicron toy JUST because he was included in the comics. Not as much selling momentum compared to having him in a kids cartoon.

I think I'm in the minority in wanting to see repaints that don't homage established characters. I like the idea of SteelCore being a stand alone original incarnation from FP. If they do repaints, it would be nice to just see a few remolded parts and a new head and remolded Steel in the colors previewed in their comic. Or give us the 2 Steel recolors in the comic with all ne moldings for their version of Core.

 

I'd have to say the mold screams Roadbuster to me. As I'm a very G1/classics/homage-oriented collector, the mold holds very little interest for me in itself, until it ticks one of those boxes.

 

HOw would he look in Overlord colours?

personally I want to find him in his original colours for a decent price but out of the ones done here I like the Sentinel Maximus most. But also the idea he is City Commander after undergoing reconstruction.

I could definitely get behind this guy as a Roadbuster homage repaint.

 

So would i. I think there was a boardie who had photoshopped Steelcore into Roadbuster colours and he looke awesome.

However I do agree, Steelcore would need a different head at the very least to distinguish himself.

I like Steelcore as an individual character, but then again if the sentient piece of Steelcore is only Steel (the core, master minirobo) then i guess Steel is the only remold needed and Corer stays as is since it would make sense to have the "armour robot" portion mass produced (in fiction).
