They are based on Growl and Fireshot, but I think they're also a double-homage to the Battle Gaia guys. Warcry is a little more red than Growl, and Fireshot isn't white at all, so I assume their vehicle modes were intended to evoke the Battle Gaia limbs for people who want to use them on their Bruticus (even though FansProject didn't make them as combiners, they surely knew owners of the first 2 would consider limb swapping with the combiner parts)

 

For everyone that claimed it would not combine.... HA!!!!!!

After your initial review of colossus, I hope you'll include to continuing degradation of explorer.

Absolutely, they're a mutli-level reference, I don't think anyone would argue that. Growl and Fireshot basically gave them something OTHER than simple Bruticus limb repaints to base these on. At the same time, you can pair them with Gun Barrel, Reverb, and the original US version of the torso to create an excellent Battle Gaia, or you can pair them with one of the brighter green tanks and the original purple helicopter, and have an almost accurate (torso aside) G2 Bruticus.

 

I want these guys but they are a medium priority at the moment.

 

Unless I'm mistaken, these guys are supposed to be one of FP's more limited items. Not as limited as Shadow Scyther, but not produced with a 2nd run in mind. So depending on how badly you want them, you might wanna raise the priority, cos they'll probably shoot up in price on the after-market.

I like Flameblast's new head sculpt, but I only bought Warcry. I intend to use him as a Bruticus leg so I can display Munitioner in bot mode. Swindle's too good a character to be stuck as a leg   (Blast Off, on the other hand, I can take or leave. And he looks better as an arm than Flameblast. That's $50 I'll be glad to save)

and since Warcry's gonna be stuck in leg mode, I think I'll give his weapons to Swindle to emulate his G1 arm cannon

 

I've only pre-ordered Warcry at the moment, but I want to add Flameblast as soon as I can, as I've heard that 'limited item' rumor before, too.

 

sweet. glad I ordered them. Flameblast's wing boosters doubling as gun holsters is a very nice touch.

Mine are sitting at BBTS awaiting PE Reflector. Can't wait to get these guys. I enjoyed the robots by themselves and now I have an extra set to display.

I was going to get these guys the moment they were announced. It lets me play with the base figures without having to disassemble that glorious Bruticus, and without unnecessary doubles. The new weapons and head sculpts just seal the deal.
