    I'd call fan made.

    Their real concept art isn't shown with a background unless its just a generic showing of how the character may move of a promotional point to show the directors.

    It's fan-made. There are several clear indicates, like the lack of robot armour among car shell peices. Someone went to great lengths to make it real, though, and did a good job.

    that image has been around on the internet for a few years. I remember seeing it not too long after The first transformers movie came out, on superherohype forums.
