No that's damn near amazing. I have the guy on my "not really cutting it" shelf and Chighur on the main MP shelf with Ditka. I'm going to have to rethink that now that he can have the boosted height. I never heard of this mistransformation but more than anything, I'm amazed how "right" it looks. I thought it might looks off but it doesn't. If you didn't know, you'd think that's how he is supposed to look. Gonna have to change mine around when I get home.

Damn! That makes a hell of a difference! Even his thick legs don't looks so bad with his larger, taller feet. I wasn't going to get a Captain because he was slightly too small for me but now, wow. YEAH! I'm sold!  

 

I want a reissue with better plastic quality.

 

Got this guy a few weeks back and love how cool he is. Yeah there is a few issues but the good outweighs the bad IMO.

Good Points:
Looks toon accurate for me
Love the transformation for all 3 modes
Nice articulation
Awesome price - Got this guy for around £30.00 on ebay
Love the extra storage section for train mode
Extra Head

Bad Points:
Plastic feels a little cheap - There's a small tab which I know is likely going to break after a few transformations on the top area of train mode
His Toon Accurate Head seems far too small (Someone on Shapeways needs to make a replacement)
Some may hate his huge legs

All in all, if you can find him cheap pick him up. I doubt we'll get a re-release with Diecast or better plastic. I replaced me TR Astrotrain with this guy and could not be happier

@King Nergil I'm assuming all ankle tilt is lost with the alternate foot configuration?

 

It has no forward tilt anymore, but it is possible to move the foot back.

 

id really like them to take a crack at blitzwing.

If the alternate foot configuration puts him at MP Seeker height than I'm good. DX9 Chigurh sticks out like a sore thumb in my collection. Nothing like buying a figure, selling it, then rebuying it!

I'll still welcome another company to take a stab at the character or even an OS KO of this guy. Ideally I would like him to be slightly bigger than a Seeker, but the animation puts them at approximately the same height in bot mode, so this ought to work just fine.

 

Got my Transportation Captain in today. I must admit that he's better than I remembered him being and the "shoes" alternate transformation makes a huge difference. The issue I'm having now is, he scales pretty well with the Seekers, but not with Blitzwing (Ditka), and that's really where I want to display him. Blitz dwarfs him even with the new added height. Still though, he looks loads better than DX9 Chigurgh.

Talk about two figures who have the opposite problem. DX9 is straight chugsterpiece, while Transport Capt is undersized MP! Wei Jiang could make a fortune by upsizing and tweaking the Captain.

 

quite funny this fan mode/configuration has been posted on fb as early as few months back... its just odd it was this late in this threads..

also u can flip that pointy part of the feet inward.. so as to lessen it looking like an elf boot.
glad this wil let u enjoy this great toy even more.

 

hehe.. most peeps aint gonna display him at sideview anyway.. not really a big issue ... no different than mp 36 megs ugly backside exposed.. but i get what u mean.

 

Part of that is Ditka is just too damn big. Because some jackwad drew Blitzwing too high on the scale chart he's misconstrued as being Optimus Prime height when he should be closer to seeker height if you move him down so his right foot starts on the bottom line like every other bot on the scale chart. KFC had it the right size originally, but then upscaled it for some unknown reason...probably about the same time they screwed up the color in the abdominal area.

Agreed. I'd get it to display in shuttle mode even if a better MP Astrotrain is released.
