I'd love to see a fan edit that does nothing to RoTF but add the vocoder effect to Soundwave's voice. Seems a decent sound editor could pull it off in a few hours.

My FAVORITE SW voice is from the ROTF game: With Welker's RoTF voice run through the G1 vocoder. If a fan editor wanted to do that, he/she could just use the existing audio track, and run it through the vocoder. Best of both worlds!

    Wonder if this is feasible?

OP, Welker didn't voice Soundwave in ROTF game. That was Peter Jessop. But honestly I prefer the unmodified voice, at least in the movies.

Yeah, I just recently noticed Digital Domain's video and was totally surprised to find that they vocoder-ed (?) it! I was gonna' post it, but I guess someone beat me to it. ;)

That one on Youtube, and Digital Domain's are probably the best that I've heard, because we still get to hear Frank's wonderful talent, yet it still retains the classic, G1 feel to it. Amazing. :thumb

    Thanks for the correction.

I'm aware that plenty of people like the voice they went with in the movie (and this sure isn't another of THOSE threads), but an edit for those who didn't would be neat.

A good editor should be able to separate the score track from the dialogue, which would eliminate that background noise from the Youtube clip.

Yeah, DD's sounded great as well, but a little too "tin-ny" for my personal preferences.

I can see why Bay ended up not using it. It sounded good, but for non Transfan, the ones that don't generally have an ear for the vocoder could have found it hard to understand

After watching that DD video, I would have loved to hear that effect used on the movie voice, perhaps a little lighter. You can still hear Welker's uber-deepness, which I like.
