Fans, especially Americans, have a tendency to abbreviate things. It's quicker to type "BT" instead of "Binaltech", or "HA" instead of "Human Alliance". Now don't get me wrong, I'm totally okay with those, as long as everyone knows what they're referring to. For example, "TF" or the plural form "TFs" doesn't bother me in the slightest. But then there are cases where a shorthand term can be confusing, or just looks idiotic or half-arsed. Those are the ones that annoy me. Some examples: "OP" is confusing because sometimes it refers to Optimus Prime, but in other instances it's general message board lingo for "original poster", i.e. thread starter. "Tformers" is a website for me (and not a particularly good one, but that's neither here nor there). If you mean "Transformers", why not just type "TFs", thus saving yourself five more characters and avoiding the confusion, as well as the fugly look of that semi-abbreviation? Even worse is "TFers". What the hell? Considering the uppercase "TF" already stands for "Transformers", that means "TFers" stands for "Transformerers". A new one I recently stumbled across: "TFilm". What's next, "OPrime"? "SS" is particularly annoying because it alternatively stands for "Starscream", "Sunstreaker", "Sideswipe"/"Side Swipe", "Silverstreak", "Smokescreen" or "Sixshot". I actually recall a situation during the days of Alternators where someone talked about "Alt SS", and people were like "which one do you mean?" And don't even get me started on that whole "CHUG"/"CHUGRU"/"CHUGURTS" nonsense. Any thoughts? Other examples?
