'bout damn time!
'Mad Men,' '30 Rock' lead Emmy nominees - CNN.com
Really? An Emmy? I think the show's funny and all but there are much better comedies out there IMO
I mean, love or hate it, what do you say to that? Family Guy? An Emmy? Honestly?
Not that I care about awards shows, but Family Guy? Getting an Emmy?
And the Emmys manage to successfully divest themselves of their last shred of credibility.
I'd need to summon that booing lady from the princess bride to accurately show how I feel about this.
YouTube - BOO!
You don't have to like the show, but you should at least respect the fact that it's only the second animated show to ever be nominated (The Flinstones was the other).
And yeah, let's be real here, it probably won't win. But to be nominated is still an honor and it's still a damn funny show.
I dont have to respect that it got animated. simpsons, even that zombie shitbeast thats being passed off as simpsons these days, deserves it more. or how about futurama?
lots of shows deserve it more. the emergency broadcast system tests deserve it more. it definately has better writing.
congrats to them!
I like a lot of old FG episodes, but I find that the new ones tend to suck, with bad jokes that just aren't funny.
There are a lot of other animated shows that deserve an emmy more than FG.
The standards are lowering everywhere.
Wow, talk about your irony.
Family Guy sucks, it's not funny. Wish Simpsons was as good as it was in the old days.
How about a certain cartoon about a certain underwater fella and his pals?
You know who. Right?
Good. Family Guy deserves some recognition. Its still funny and anyone who things its not funny anymore is just suffering from nostalgia, or is hopping on the bandwagon that South Park created.
But also, I think that the nomination of an animated show just goes to show how awful other comedies have become. It seems to really pain them to have to look at anything animated for some reason.
Well said, it's all based on individual tastes. I'm surprised most responses in here have pretty much panned the show. I just wonder what some of these folks think is funny. It's probably a lot different than what I like.
I don't mind the goofball, raunchy satire. I grew up watching Monty Python and slapstick humor has always been my favorite. Unfortunately most comedies today just don't do it for me (except for The Office, Big Bang Theory, and How I Met Your Mother) - which includes most of FG's competitors in the Emmy race.
The show is a pop-culture phenom and, in that respect, I applaud the writers. It's difficult to make a joke about a 15-20 year old event that and still apply it to modern times. How many of the viewers are actually old enough to get the Land Of The Lost and Great Space Coaster references (just two that popped in my head)? Even if they don't get it, they still laugh. That's not an easy thing to do and I'm glad FG is finally getting some recognition.
amen and amen respectively.
I just get sick of all how after nearly every joke they have to cut to a clip of it that just gets really old. But then again I'm just not big on ridiculous slapstick humor so...
Separate names with a comma.
