Well, I am at a impasse in my collecting life. More and more lately I have been wanting a 360, tired of only having my PS2 to play and well, all the games I've been missing. But, to afford one right now, would have to sell some of my transformers, which I never thought of, but now its crossing my mind. I mean I could possibly reaquire them later.

I dunno, anyone else thinned their ranks for something else?

I sold off my first collection... was small but regretted it! Think it was for a ps2.... and I never use it now

I may have to start selling off some of mine as I'm returning to university in september.... doing my damndest not to though.

I suppose you have to ask yourself a few questions:

    1. If you sell your collection, will you be able to regain the cash that you spent on it in the first place and actually have enough to buy the 360

    2. Are you willing to pay more for the toys that you sold in the future? Depending on he toys, the value may go up with the new movie.

    3. Is there anything else that you can do to earn money?

In my experience if you work hard and save for something (without compromising) the purchase will be more meaningful and you will appreciate it more, plus you didn't have to give up on the other thing that you like.

    TJ is a smart man!

There are other ways to get the money. Actually putting the money aside for it and not touching that stash is probably the most rewarding. If it is something you REALLY want, this shouldn't be too hard.

Otherwise ask yourself how important your TF collection is to you. If it is something that you are just not that in to anymore, then by all means sell it off.

If I could go back in time and smack younger me upside the head for getting rid of my original collection (for virtually nothing if I recall), I would in a heartbeat. Well that, or try to screw myself over for a cheaper price at that garage sale. Man, I hate younger me sometimes.

Only sell if it is stuff you really don't want anymore, and you can make it worth your while. If you are selling a bunch of stuff for $2, and constantly emailing, going to the post office etc, it is a waste of time IMO. Also keep in mind the price of an Xbox 360 is going to stay the same, and is only going to go down over time, however many Transformers will increase in value. I say save up the cash for the Xbox.

I would never sell any of my collection in order to get something else I want. I would only sell it as an emergency. Dude, just save some cash, pawn some stuff, be an escort, whatever, but dont sell the collection.

PS if you do, PM as I am in San Antonio

A year from now, your Xbox 360 will be sitting there collecting dust and played maybe two or three times a month, and you will be wishing you'd kept your Transformers. (To say nothing of when the next gen of Xbox comes out.)

    Keep the TFs.

*shudder* Whoa, thanks guys, already thought up I wouldn't actually do it, was tired and started thinking off on a tangent. I don't think I could part with any of them anyways, too much of a completist :p

Thanks again for the support to bring me back to normality(somewhat :p  )

Yeah, keep your collection. Xbox will always be there, and will be cheaper to buy in the future while the TFs will more than likely increase in price.

I sold my Predaking to buy a DVD player back in 2003. On the one hand I sold him a few months before the reissue was announced so I got top dollar for him, on the other hand I still kind of regret it.

It depends on how much you value your TFs. If they hold a large sentimental or nostalgic value to you you may regret selling them for a gaming system that will probably be obsolete someday.
