So, I was thinking, while watching Prime: how do their faces move? They're metal, right? Anybody have any solutions?

All I can think of is that, underneath their face, which isn't metal, but some flexible material, shaped into a face, there are gears, moving the face to convey emotion. Any ideas?

Basically, what are their faces made of.how do their faces omve if they're metal?

The same process that let's them alter their bodies works on a microscopic level to move their faces and other pieces as if they were "soft." That's been my fan-explanation since Beast Wars.

Hmm... nanotechnology. Excellent idea, sir! I hadn't considered that.

I assume it's just incredibly small filiments. Not nanotech but tiny almost fabric like strips of metal.

Given that they can scar it must be biomech like the t-cogs and voiceboxes

Would also be an explination for Soundwave not having a face if his biomech one was unrepairable

I think of it kind of like animated. Where the protoforms fill in the gaps between the armor and thats essentially their essence. Prime seems to have taken this general idea and put much more transformers science to it which I like. Bio mechanical is the best explanation though.

I mostly chalk it up to the fact that they're living metal, and of course... artistic license hehe.

To me Biomech doesnt mean it is organic in nature it just means it is a mechanical compound which is alive :2c:

This thread is Movie Optimus' wet dream.

But yeah......I think it's just a fancy and flexiable metal or something like that.:)

Liquid metal, like the protoforms in Animated. I thought that was obvious

I like it better than the movie-esque designs of a whole bunch of moving plates. I think it makes it easier to show facial expressions.

As for how it works... yeah, I'll go with science too.

i like to think since they are robotic organisms, that it is like an organic, flexible metal substance
