EDIT: Y'know... probably too political. Nevermind.

I'll just leave it at: :thumbdown

EDIT 2: Not the same thing, but hopefully at least as annoying to the po-po: I wrote "Doughnut fund contribution" on a speeding ticket check once. :D

Cliched, I know. But there was NO WAY I was going the speed of which they accused me. A friend riding with me concurred. But, being a medical student then, I had zero time to spend contesting it.

I love these jackasses who get tickets for speeding, parking violations, etc, and it's never their fault. It's always "those damn cops!"

I'm glad the douchebag in the news story ended up having to write an apology.

It's not like the person who has to open your letter, take the check out, and cash it, and the person accepting the check, is the one who gave the guy the ticket whether he thought he deserved it or not. Being angry is not an excuse to be an ass, and apparently this guy learned that lesson.

"Disorderly conduct." What a load of garbage.

I'm thrilled to see the resources of the judicial system allocated so efficiently.

Hopefully, the offender has learned his lesson and his future conduct will never disorder society again.

Don't you know that nothing is anyone's fault anymore? Hell, If TV and the internet weren't so cool and fast food didn't taste so good, and excersize wasn't so hard; then I wouldn't be fat. I blame all that other stuff.

disorderly conduct, what a load of garbage.

i have always believed that in some part it is possible for a person to speak their mind in a obscene and otherwise offensive nature so long as the words of said offensive nature are not of a racial sexist or otherwise verbally abusive nature and also if said person does not in any way apply those words to any one person , persons or groups in general

a good example would be of the person who swears a blue streak when he is mad at another person but at the same time makes it clear he is not using those words on any one person in the immediate area

in general i think of the whole thing as a way for a person to vent their steam in a rather healthy semi productive and otherwise nonviolent matter.

apperantly though some people cannot understand that basic concept or for that matter the concept of free speech when it comes to certain individuals in the government and the workplace in general.

but those are just my thoughts on the matter.

$5? Yeah, that man's a whiner. Tickets here start at $50 for the most minor infraction and go up into the thousands.

Not only the judicial system, but the media's resources have been wasted once again reporting on crap.

And yeah, he probably wrote 'Fuck You cops' or something along those lines. Stupid yes, but worth going after the guy for disorderly conduct absolutely not.

Free speech has nothing to do with the whether or not you can cuss someone out and be an ass.

    What exactly did he write?

I think that's a pertinant piece of information that could make this story go from "lolfunny" to "Omg what an ass =(".

Though as of right now, I'm leaning towards it being "lol funny".

Tell that to the Westboro Baptist Church :D

Seriously, though--I honestly feel like that's legitimately part of free speech. Why do you feel it's not?

Free speech is basically the ability to express an opinion or point of view without it being censored or otherwise opressing the person. "$&#! YOU!" is not an opinion or point of view, or anything else really. If this were the case, then it wouldn't be possible for the FCC to censor obscenities from broadcast airwaves, because that would be unconstitutional(and it's not). The same would go apply to schools sending kids to detention for cussing out teachers just because they didn't like their homework assignment, nothing stops the kid from saying he didn't like it, but he doesn't have the right to cuss the teacher out over it because of freedom of speech.

Plus, being an ass in public in general(including writing notes that are going to be seen by a half dozen people, including your own bank once they get the check back) usually doesn't score you points with anybody.
