F/A-18 Fighter Jet Buzzes Detroit Apartment Building - Planelopnik - Jalopnik
Dude, that's awesome. I would be less excited, and more scared if an F-22 came by.
It looks like a model.
That's some stunning photography.
You should see one of those Super Hornets close up. Nice,
detroit is somehow up the awesome scale
At first id be like I like wtf is that moron doing? then about 10 seconds later id be like damn that was cool !
That looks pretty darned fake. The shadows don't look right on the jet vs. on the building.
Also, no way that dude on the balcony would be standing calmly upright with that going on.
WDIV Detroit Video
Comments from the original link as well as this video indicate that it looks a lot closer in the pic than it actually was (~300 ft.) due to the camera/technique used. A football field away is still pretty close, but not that close. Drive west on I-30 through Fort Worth and you'll get buzzed about that closely by F-18s and such taking off from Carswell.
^ I sit corrected.
The distance explains the lighting differences, at least. Definitely seems closer than 200-300 feet.
"It's only a model..."
I was more interested in the Triceratops ROFLcopter, but the jet stuff is cool, I guess.
F15s, F16s & C130s fly over here all the time. Soon the F-35.
I remember livin at Fort Monroe We were always going to Langley and I'd see these makin rounds all the time.
It's even more spectacular at night when all you see is the sillouette and the afterburners streaking through the night sky.
