Was at work when I heard it on the radio. Surprised it was up yet here or on Fark.com

    Glad he was ok.

Wow, Vincennes is not far at all away from here (which I assume is why news is biggest locally at the moment). Glad he's okay, and that it crashed in a field instead of a populated area.

I have such a man crush on the F-15 Eagle. And it has nothing to do with TF's.

I've always liked that plane. I wonder if they'll ever reveal its full capabilities. It and F-104 are probably the best looking jet fighters ever built.

Sounds more like Starscream has fallen. "Will any one else attempt to fill his shoes?"

I blame Skywarp for shooting him in the ass... er, afterburners, and Thundercracker for saying, "Be a man, Starscream! KILL YOURSELF!!!". I bet Megatron got a kick outta that.

Good to hear that no one got hurt, though it's sad that such a good craft went down. The F-15 is definately one of the best looking birds out there, second in my book to the F-22.

It's not bad. I've always preferred the -14 and especially the -16. Glad the pilot's ok.

The F-15 has been around since the early 70's, and most of the current fleet has been upgraded quite a bit. I don't think it's really hiding anything in terms of potential.

Yep. The new stuff may be sleeker and faster, but the F-15 is one enduringly sexy plane.

Some of the plane nuts I've heard from suspect that its aerobatic capabilities have never been fully displayed to the public. I even heard it theorized that the F-15 can hang with some of the newer Migs and Sukois.

I have no idea if they're just blowing smoke, but they know a lot more about the subject than I do.

I'm a big A-10 fan myself, but I give mad props to the F-15 as one of the oldest and endearing fighters in history.

The 14 is retired in favor of the Super Hornet. The 18 are more along my lines since I supported them while in the navy, but the H-60 is my bird.

Kinda bad I have to see this news here. I am just over in IL and haven't seen or heard a thing about it. Glad the pilot is ok though.

There's probably another 10% or so of the envelope that's not been put on display, and won't ever be mentioned until the F-15 is completely out of the USAF catalog. No point in making sure that a potential enemy knows what to expect.

The A-10 is another favorite, just for the fact that it's a plane designed around a gun. A gun the size of a Volkswagon Beetle.
