Not sure why theese two had two names. One one hand I'm glad that "Que" had another name...because it leaves room for a "real" Wheeljack in a future movie

and I wasn't even aware Dino was supposed to be Mirage until i head the sad news on the front page...dino wasn't a bad character, but saw been less "Mirage" in him than I saw of "Wheeljack"....

So why the two names? especialy "Dino"? From what I understand only means "60's lounge singer" or "Fred Flinstone's dog"

    Nicknames.
Mirage because he used a Ferrari and had a thick italian accent, and WheeljaQ as a abbreviation of his name and a possible allusion to Q from James Bond.

But WheeljaQ was pretty much Wheeljack but old and looking like Einstein, they were the same "Prof. Nuts" kind of character.

Dino was a victim of trademarking and copyrights.
Que was a victim of Michael Bay.

Out-of-universe, "Dino" was due ferrarri being a jerkass.
Que was either due Michael Bay or [most likely] due Mercedes being jerkasses.

This is how I explain it. Their real names are Mirage and Wheeljack and Nest gives them the nicknames Dino and Q. Also, take out the ue out of Que. It's totally unnecessary and stupid

Well, Ferrari wasn't actually being a jerkass. They wanted Mirage renamed as Dino in memory of son of Ferrari's founder, who died at an early age.

But to be honest, I think it was a fault decision by Ferrari. To me at seemed that the company assumed that audiences watching DOTM in theatres would automatically make the connection between the name and Ferrari. In truth, I feel that the only people who could make that connection would be real Ferrari enthusiasts, and not little kids.

No,it was because they have a deal with mattel so they didn't want a Hasbro trademark as the movie name thus they chose the name Dino,so its partly MATTEL'S fault! I call boycott on Mattel products! :lol

.....and it was also said that the name Dino was chosen because it was a nickname for Enzo Ferrari's late son who died of muscular distrophy.

Fairly certain Dino had NOTHING to do with Mattel. It was supposedly all just Ferrari, it was their brand being represented so under the agreement described by Nelson they had final say on the voice actor and name of the character.

Except, honestly, and with respect, there is absolutely no reason a Transformers character needs to memorialize him. At the same time, since the character didn't really have much in common with any incarnation of Mirage, I don't mind him being a brand new character, though Mirage does seem a fitting name for the design.

Que seems to be a Bay thing. Mercedes even licensed their cars to Hasbro, so they definitely seem agreeable to having their cars be Transformers characters. Que was a WIP name, and Bay has been known to enjoy the working names, so it was likely his decision. Like he thought Devastator was a "cooler" name than Brawl, he probably liked Que better than Wheeljack, since he's probably unfamiliar with the namesake.

well it's more than a name change, I don't know about Dino...but during the closing credits of the film the Mercedes is credited as "Wheeljack/Que"

...it's like they couldn't decide what his name should be

"Dino" is also credited as Mirage/Dino.

The main problem with naming him Dino is not the name per see, it's that this name sucks, couldn't they call him Enzo? [Also a ferrari name, but one that sounds badass].

I actually rather call them Dino and Q since they remind me nothing of Mirage and Wheeljack. Still, sucks that they did change the names.
