The point of this thread is to discuss which exsisting molds or repaints would be best to use in the classics line or are best displayed with them if you're mainly a G1 fan, like myself.

Right now I have to say the following:

    Energon Shockblast
    Cybertron Smokescreen
    Cybertron Soundwave

Cybertron Armorhide would make a great Huffer repaint, right down to the head sculpt.
Shortround would make a nice Seaspray repaint.

More when I think of them.

More will come to me, but I'd say Quickmix (cybertron) for now.

i was just coming to start a thread like this :p  i was gonna call it "who get's to move in with the classics"

I've got Cyb Smokescreen and Energon Downshift (as Wheeljack of course) (he's got some massive problems, but is a decent display in 'bot mode) bulkin' up the Autobots and Galaxy Force Soundblaster bulking up the Decepticons (in my mind this is kind of 'Transformers Generation 3" if you will, so i figure Soundwave got trashed and rebuilt as Soundblaster

also won a set of the U Constructicons off Ebay, their aesthetic fits in a lot better with the classic molds to me than the Exclusive E. Constructicon set that's coming, plus that set is barely redeco'd. Figure at some point Scrapper and Mixmaster got killed and the Constructicons were rebuilt to the 4 piece gestalt form.

just can't include E. Shockblast, that mold really bums me out...

I'm debating whether or not U. Ratchet gets to be Classics Red Alert or not, i mean, the Vehicle mode is of course dead on, but the RiD Aesthetic is pretty damn different in 'bot mode...

Slugslinger plays himself, as does E Shockblast. Evac is...someone...he's just too Classicy not to include.

    E Roadblock - Grapple
E Bulkhead - Springer (minus the triple changing)
E Cliffjumper - Sandstorm (minus the triple changing)
    E Beachcomber - Beachcomber
    E Downshift - Wheeljack
E Superion Maximus - Superion (better then the E Constructicons atleast)
E Swoop - Swoop (would have been a perfect toy if he had hands)
E Omega Suprime - Omega Suprime (a crain/boat is no less dorky then a rocket/tank combo)
E Shockblast - Shockwave (the Shockblast/Sixshot hybrid would be better)
    E Slugslinger - Slugslinger
    E Battle Ravage - Ravage
    E Galvatron - Galvatron
E Dreadwing - Scourge and the Sweeps
C Armorhide - Pipes (repaint orange for Huffer)
    C Overhaul - Brawn
C Red Alert - Rachet (maybe with different head)
    C Hotshot - Bluestreak (a little streching)
    C Smokescreen - Smokescreen
    C Landmine - Scoop
C Quickmix - Quickmix (We're just missing a good Landfill homage to have all 3 Autobot Double Targetmasters)
    C Blurr - Blurr
C Soundwave and Lazerbeak - Soundwave and Laserbeak
    C Runamuck - Runabout
C Scrapmetal Red - Rumble (if we only had gotten the blue one we could have had Frenzy)
    RID Ruination - Bruticus :D
RID Prowl - Prowl (though he won't look right next to the others)
U Inferno - Red Alert (same as above)
    U Whirl - Whirl

Theres more out there but those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head and I will continue add to it as I think of more

while these do make sense, i just think all of these molds are just to much of a stretch either aesthetically to fit in with the classics or character-wise to represent the originals... that's why i'm even iffy on U. Ractche, the classics just thave such a strong Aesthetic i wan to stay true to it... plus, if a mold doesn't have good artuculation it's got no business hangin' with these little engineering wonders at my house:p

I've got Soundblaster ny Megs right now, and even that's pushing it. not bad, but ddefinitely has a different "vibe" ~ more tech details and "pointier"

True enough, but hey it would be no different then the G1 toyline.

P.S. U Rachet was the x-brawn repaint and not on the list, U Inferno was the Red Alert look a like.

While there are a few figures who I'll place with the Classics, I don't want to dilute the line too much. They're so superior to most of the Energon/Armada lines that I think including too many of those figures would kinda drag them down and take away from them.

That being said, I will probably place the following figures alongside the Classics.... unless they just stick out like sore thumbs, and then I'll take them away:

    E Downshift
    E Shockblast
    C Smokescreen
    C Soundwave

Those are the only ones that are close enough homages to fit in. The others I might consider, but probably won't use, are:

E Rodiumus: he would work if he weren't such an ugly, mis-proportioned figure
E Bulkhead: well, I don't actually have him, and I'm not sure he's worth buying to stand in for Springer.... especially since Springer is such a low-priority character for me
E Arcee: I would use her, but she and Lugnutz hang out with my Alternators
Evac: he's a great figure, I love him, and he feels more Classicy than Cybertrony.... but he doesn't look enough like any particular G1 character to really fit in. I dunno... maybe Blades? We'll see.

a lot of the C. Earth Palnet Molds Aesthetically are pretty close to fitting in with the classics, but they just don't have the heads to really match up with any characters. Evac redeco'd as Blades would be pretty damn sweet though, i think the colours and motif would actually work pretty well, and most of the Scramble City Gestalt Basics had non-descript enough heads that i'd be a little more forgiving :p
