My theory is that they're actually drawing inspiration from the pre-Transformer Diaclone days, when the "evil" jet robot (later Thundercracker) was colored blue and the "good" jet robot (later Starscream) was colored grey. In a way it's a re-invention of Transformers from the ground up.

Personally I'm excited about this figure. I love the face, chin and all, love the proportions, and I accept the color scheme. I don't mind Starscream stealing Thundercracker's colors... he just becomes a dual homage (and this is coming from a guy who specifically collects Thundercrackers). My only gripes about this figure center on the alt mode. I'm not a fan of forward-swept-wing jets, and the telescoping nosecone keeps it from looking as sleek as it could have; it looks like a robotic pigeon. But the robot mode is so cool that I forgive those minor infractions.

I'm actually really curious to see if Thundercracker and Skywarp make guest appearances in Animated... and if so, what colors they are wearing.
