I want to take a classics Jetfire and turn him into an Evil Jetfire, but I was looking for some suggestions from you all.

I at first wanted to paint him a gray similar to the classics starscream I did, well after disassembling him, I am having second thoughts. It would be much easier not to paint the body gray, but I'm not sure it would look right.

I plan on painting the boosters some sort of gray color and all the red parts on his body purple. I am trying to follow reprolabels layout for him with a few tweeks here and there.

Any other suggestions or ideas you have would be welcome.

I agree with this. It would make him completely opposite from Jetfire, which would basically make him evil. Other than that, some decepticon symbols, and maybe some sort of battle scar, I can't think of anything. Peace out.

Decepticon colors. Maybe a blitzwing-ish color scheme.

Indeed, It's YOUR evil Jetfire, how would you visualize him? do some drawings and copy them , then use colored pecil or pen to see what would work.

Paint him like The Fallen from War Within.

Black with bright orange panel lines.

Well then all the red would have to be teal, and all the transluscent blue would be yellow...

I wasn't talking about all the colors on him, just the white. Turning the white on Jetfire, would basically, in my opinion, make him evil. The purple would make it even better. Peace out.

Try a few quick digibashes first to see how various colour combinations might work. I suppose a simple repaint would be changing all the red to purple.

Funny you mention that because that is what I just did on a few pieces, I changed them from red to purple. Here are a few comparison pics.

I think I'm going to leave his base color alone and just do a red to purple conversion on most of it...except his boosters, those will be painted gray.

Something funny (or not funny because it presents a problem) about the red on Jetfire is that it won't come off with alcohol. The black on the nose came off fine which you can see in the pics, but I soaked the pieces in alcohol over night and nothing, not even a little would come off.

He is also a pain to take apart.

Ok, I think I have found a compromise to painting Jetfire all gray. I tried a few techniques to give him a gray wash to make him look dirty. I'm not done yet and I'm still working on making it look right, but here are some comparison pictures.

This is probably the route I'll go once I get the wash to go on the way I like it. This will have some advantages of not worrying about wear appearing from transformation.l The wash still needs some work. The legs on the left are from the Jetfire I panel lined already. I also painted the feet on my WIP Evil Jetfire flat black.

More of a "what if" since in most continuities, Jetfire was alligned with the decepticons first.

The Starsaber version is too "Power Rangers" for my taste. I'm not saying it wouldn't make a cool custom, its just not something I would do.

    Another suggestion:

I don't know if you've started the wings yet, but instead of having the pattern in red that's already on the wings you could have saw-tooth pattern in purple instead, i.e. a zig zag pattern where it used to be a straight edge and 'bot symbol.
