I was just curious? Has anyone here ever been mistaken for a scalper? Say for, example, if you buy 2 of each figure (one to keep mint and the other for play or kitbash) and end up having a cart full of figures? Or if you see a rare figure and decide to pick one up plus a couple more for fellow board members?

I don't scalp but I do sometimes end up having a good amount of figures in my cart for the above reasons and it probably would look like I'm scalping.

Nope, I've never been mistaken for a scalper. Then again, the most TF's that I've ever bought at one time, would probably be about 5, if not less, and all were different TF's. The only time I buy multiple copies of a mold is to kitbash them. Even at that, most of my kitbashes are done with the first copy of the mold that I bought.

heh, you should've seen my cart when the movie figures (2x of all the first wave figs) were first released! I'm sure my wallet cried.

I know for sure I haven't. My largest purchase in the last year or so was 2 Voyagers, 2 Deluxes, and a Real Gear (or something like that...)

I do know I left 6 or so Concept Bee's at Walmart before because I only needed one (this was before the drought, 3 days after first sighting. Another member went back and pretty much wiped them out for whatever he needed them for)

I've never bought so much at one time as to give that impression. Plus there are usualy figs still on the shelf that are in my cart.

I've been giving my wallet time to heal before I go shopping, lol. Hopefully my Target has Voyager Ironhide next weekend, as I've recently decided to get him, and I'll be getting some money in this upcoming week, and plan to go buy the TF DVD and some TF's to go along with it, though I plan to save about $40 for when the new HP movie comes out on DVD :thumb .

One time I was at Kohls and found a whole slew of CC BB's. I picked up 2 for myself and left the rest. It didn't occur to me to pick up some extras for fellow board members at the time. When I went back the next day, they were all gone. (shelf was still full of other figures) :(

I did mention the ONE I got out of the 6-8 they had has a finger print AND scratch/smudge (I can't really think of how to explain it) in the rear windsheild AND the paint pretty much wipes off, right?

With how often you seem to scout for figures I wouldn't be surprised lol.

Probably all the time. Mostly by the people at the checkout. It's hard buying for friends who collect :)

What kind of question is that? It can't be answered (unless you're a mind reader). If you're walking to the cashier with toys in your hands or cart, how are you gonna know what the people around you are thinking? If the employees see you in the toy dept. looking at action figures or Hot Wheels frequently, most likely one of them thinks you're a scalper.

I'll be honest here & say YES! They thought I was a scalper! They thought I was a collector! They thought I was a loser! They thought a lot of things over the past 30 years.

Back in Florida I had to compete with scalpers all the time, so I was among them. Always at the doors in the morning when they opened. There was no way in hell they didn't think I was a scalper.

I gotta laugh at everybody that answered NO. You actually think NOBODY ever thought you were a scalper?

I don't know if anyone assumed I was a scalper or not, but no one's ever given me crap or even asked about it.

By contrast, years back I bought a bunch of blank VHS tapes all at once, and the cashier asked if I was making a porn movie. Now THAT'S jumping to conclusions! :)

Was it a hot chick? Should have said yes and asked them to be in it. They so obviously wanted it.

I once bought 2 each of Rumble and Ravage Alternators. That was about the only time I could have been mistaken for a scalper, but it was WAY too early in the morning for anyone to see me. This was at like 5 am. Gotta love 24 hour Walmarts.

    Nope.
I know nobody ever did. I've bought more of my figures online than in-store, and the most I've ever bought at once is 2 (and that was online).
