Inspired by The Reisen's thread, I just figured I'd ask - have any of y'all been part of your school's band? I was part of most of the bands in high school (marching, Wind Ensemble and the Pit Orchestra.) When I got to college, I decided I just wanted to march. College Marching Band is generally the equivalent of a 300-member house party every weekend and it was always entertaining to see who came to practice on gameday with the worst hangover. I kinda miss college marching band when the fall sets in. I'll never miss my high school bands, but I appreciate the music education I got while I was there.
I was in my JR school band. I played the trombone. Then I played in the jazz band and learned to play the bass guitar. I have played in a few Punk Rock bands along the way. I really enjoyed the band experience, but never perused it in High School due to sports. I did have fun at band camp though....
dude, thats bullshit. they say if u were actually in GnR you dont remember being in GnR :| shit even the metallica cats were like fuck this shit these guys are crazy.
I was Duff. Or Izzy. Or Dizzy. Or...that replacement drummer who lasted 3 weeks. Yeah, that was me. -Tony! Wants the real GNR back together, minus Axl's ego.
Used to play rythm guitar in a garage band called "The Carpet Eaters" <.< >.> Odd name, I know. We had a musical style similar to Black Sabbath meets Finger Eleven. I miss those guys, they were crayzyay!
I was in concert band through Middle school playing the clarinet, then played bass clarinet my freshman year of high school...even though I had started taking drum lessons the summer before I went into high school...from there I did the drumline thing my last three years of high school, as well as four years of college. I now instruct and arrange all the music for Boise State University, as well as several high schools in the area and I've taught camps in various other states and I've written music for high schools including one in hawaii. I was also in a rock band for three years, and it's not really a 'band' but the bass player in my old band wrote and recorded an album for his senior project for a degree in communication...this past June we went back into the studio to record another album since he enjoyed the process of the first one so much. If you want to check out the first CD, he has a Myspace Music page HERE. He's selling the CD on CDbaby.com I'm not too pleased with my performance on the first album...none of us knew the songs very well, so there really wasn't much room for much spontineity...the second album is going to turn out much better.
rock on grim13! i cant believe you didnt select SP's MC&TIS as your fave influential rock album. chamberlain totally took names on that one.
i was in every band in high school, marching, jazz, wind ensemble, pit orchestra, brass ensemble...in college i was a double major with music as the second. So i was in all they had to offer in college as well. Don't do much with it anymore as I know hate music LOL. : D
