I think it is more that they want to extend the Movie line of toys with repaints and remolds. Kids can already identify with that type of packaging and those toys. They want to make as much money as possible from the movie. The TF Animated toys are completely different package wise so it would be completely new for kids.
Also the cartoon is only available on Cartoon Network which perhaps many kids in the USa don't have access to and hence lower numbers of kids know about it.

Well, I guess if you count the cartoon colours, then yes, it is close to TC's shade of blue.

Though IMO, it's all the red/maroon that stops him from looking like TC to me, that and the grin.

A Skywarp repaint of this guy would be killer.

:lol  That's what I've been thinking!

One of the big reasons for the delay is that retailers don't want TFA toys as they want more of the better selling movie toys. What the retailer wants, they get. Hasbro can't force them to sell stuff they want them to sell.

    :lol

I've done a total 360 since seeing the first sketches of designS for 'animated'.
Now I foresee a huge chunk of my monies being invested in these, for they look the AWESOME.

I wouldn't be surprised if there's at least 1 Leader or Supreme class figure in the pipes. It's pretty obvious that the Autobots' ship is gonna turn out to be Omega Supreme.

If the speculation of the 3 Leader figures is correct, those could be part of the Animated line (if true they'll be Ultra Magnus, Earth mode Megatron, and Devastator/Constructicons, imo). As for the ship possibly being Omega Supreme, I personally doubt it. I think people are taking the Omega reference, and the ships colors too far. If anything its a good homage to the Ark in G1, nothing more. As for the Roll-Out and Command Optimus Prime figure, I'm thinking it's a similar case to that of Movie Ultimate Bumblebee, a one-off thing for the line.

Looks like Thundercracker to me but it is accurate to the show, so whatever. Looks like both. Not like it matters. If they make Thundercracker out of this, that is g1 toy scheme accurate(DARK DARK BLUE NOT THAT POWDER PASTEL BABY BLUE CRAP), then I will buy Thundercracker too.

Looks like an awesome toy right off the bat, I only wish it was more accurate in alt mode, but given that the nose is integral to its transformation(& automorph it seems), its understandable why it was compromised.

I'm absolutely amazed at how DYNAMIC these figures are looking. The articulation alone makes the previous Movie line look statuesque by comparison. My wallet just may suffer this Summer.

Dammit, I am getting "sick" of seeing these things...

The more I see them the more I want them to be out like..NOW, and yet I don't want them out since I plan to complete the line and have nowhere near the funds right now.

The more I see these Animated figures, the more I can't believe I first thought they would be crap. Can't wait for them to come out, my wallet will be taking a heavy hit for sure when they do.

I kinda like thuis guy, reminds me of Armada Thundercracker; which is a new blend mix for Starscream's color scheme. His jet mode is kinda, weird... err. Still don't like the chin, but nevetheless; I like this guy. I still can't believe we have to wait for June to get these figures at retail.

Methinks the design team has a seriously disturbing Jay Leno fetish.

And it might just be the lighting, but the blue of the blue-grey is venturing into Thundercracker territory. Still, I might just have to add this rendition of Backstabbus Bastardus to my meager collection of 'Screamers (presently consisting of Classics and MP)... though perhaps subject to seeing how kibbly the underbelly is.
