Years ago I got a revoltech Eva 01... one of the originals. I don't like it. The hips system is all weird and it doesn't feel like much of an action figure.

I need a good solid recommendation on one since my desire for a good eva was never fulfilled. What do you all recommend?

The only iteration I have is the SOC Spec version, and it's very good, but I wouldn't pay the prices its going for now unless you really want one.

Well you could try hunting down the Robot Damashii one or if you're willing to give revoltech another chance the Evo one.

Robot Damashii is Robot Spirits. It's a bit confusing when you want to search online for them. I was so confused when I first learned about this line. :lol

IMO Wait a few months the third movie is coming out soon and there will be an entire new wave of figures from all different companies. Just see what comes out and this way you don't have to pay secondary market prices for older releases.

Aside from that advice i have the SPEC line and those are my fav evas.

The newest Revoltech is amazing, but the beserk head has the damage from the first episode. On the other hand, it does glow in the dark.

It does look good but I would be wary of its quality because Medicom is infamous for being fragile unless someone here can provide feedback that their QC has improved.

As for my recommendation...yeah the Robot Spirits version is the best. Spirit(s) in Japanese sounds like "Tamashii" hence its name but I have no idea why its spelt as "Damashii".

The RD Evangelions are so silky smooth and gorgeous. They are a pure joy to handle. My only critique about them is that their hips are oddly wide (and womanly?) in a neutral stance, but that immediately vanishes in any sort of action pose.

It depends a good deal on what you're willing to spend.

For $40+ you can get the excellent Revoltech Evo Series Unit 1. I put some pics up on MFC: Pictures › Picture #355382 - MyFigureCollection.net (Tsuki-board.net)

If you want to step it up, the Damashi version is nice too. For really high end, I think there's a Real Model version coming out soon too.

Soul of Chogokin SPEC version. If you just need EVA 01, get that. You've got the option for the original [TV version], original renewal version, original berserk version, movie\OVA version and movie\OVA berserk version.

Excellent proportions, excellent sculpt, all the accessories you'd want, and lots of display options.

Only trouble is if you want the rest of the EVAS in that line, you're going to be empty handed real soon.

Here's a gallery of the Eva Evo Revoltech I recommend: guNjap: Revoltech Yamaguchi No.100 Eva Test Type-01 Box Art & New Official Images

Are we looking at the same figure? Because those hips, the tiny torso, and fat midsection look terrible.

Damn. Damn. After a trip to Google, I need this.

I think I'm going to go with the RD one- now to scour the internet searching for one around 50 shipped.
