Sounds like a good line up, though it will be interesting to see how it fares over here.

I was just about to post this myself.

While that launch lineup looks good I think most are already on other systems, and the ONLY title there that gets my motor going is Virtua Fighter 5...

Hrm. £425 plus maybe another £35 for another pad, plus at least £18 for an AV cable is already £478... and there's no mention of game prices there either...

    Wow. Pricey.

    Edit
And a quick scan online shows online prices of games is £50... I'll assume that high street will be higher, so you might be looking at over £530 for the console and 1 game... that is crazy money.

For me it's either Botcon flights or PS3, so unless I con some family meember into bankrolling me I'll be missing out at launch :(
Lineup is very impressive though, lots of games there I'd be interested in :)

425 is cheaper than i thought it would be. still a lot of money when you add up all the bits and bobs. any news on a 'horizontal stand' for this console? i always had problems with displaying my ps2 horizontally.

Dude, it's really thick, you won't need a stand.

If I recall correctly, the XBox launch went laughably bad over in Europe, and the MS reps did a lot of spinning to try and hide that fact. But once the price dropped, they started to move quickly.

That says to me price will be a factor, but then it could just as well have been that MS was a virgin in the console market. But I suspect if cost is hurting PS3 sales here, it's going to kill them in Europe.

I dunno, when you think about it you are getting a games console and a blue-ray player for far cheaper than a blue-ray player on it's own.

I maybe tempted to get one later down the line when I have some spare cash.

If anything.. I think the PS3 simply showcases how ass rapped you are when you buy a blu-ray player.

I might get a PS3. Depends on cost. Saving for a Wii.

I went to Wal-Mart today and they had the same PS3 they had since a week before Christmas, it's been moved through several departmetns though. Started in the PS3 section, moved to Microsoft, then the PC section (which was all the way across the electonics department), then for the last two weeks it's been in the Wii console empty shelf space section.

Anyway, Euro launch looks very nice. Wonder if it'll do better.

No launch games interest me. I'll pass until we get a price drop or a few must haves.

I think he means the original XBox, which suffered a price drop a couple of months after launch.

Maybe. The European launch will have more games to encourage sales, but it won't have the Christmas rush pushing it.

Given it's IMMENSE COST, perhaps not launching at Christmas will see it do -better- as people, theoretically, don't have more important things to spend their money on.

    Like crap for other people.
