I don't know how many of you watch Around the Horn on ESPN. Basically, it's a show where sports writers argue and make points about big deals in the world of sports. As a sports nut, I love the show.

Anyway, Michael Smith, who used to write for the Boston Globe and now works as an NFL analyst for ESPN, and who is a regular on the show, opened the show with "t-minus 36 hours until the release of Transformers on DVD; can't wait."

My jaw dropped. It was just really really cool to hear a non-TF guy, and someone most people (at least sports people) know referring to TF. Reminded me of when Tom Hanks showed up on the Tonight Show about 10 years ago and sang the theme song (badly).

Don't know if anyone saw this, but I thought it was awesome!

Not to be all cynical and stuff, but no chance that was a paid promotion? I mean, Prime was all over the NFL graphics and stuff on Sunday.

Whether paid or not, it's still cool to hear non-TF people talk about it.

That is indeed cool. I'm still enjoying former Yellowjacket Calvin Johnson getting called Megatron.

Only if they actually care or weren't paid for it. Otherwise its just cynical advertising.

Well it isn't like we'll know for sure, unless someone asks Michael Smith candidly. So, I think it's just neat to hear it, regardless. Don't we want TF to be advertised? So long as it's popular, our hobby will continue to live and thrive and new figures and shows will be available.

Or maybe Michael Smith really is a closet TransFan. Who knows...

I was thinking the same thing, Godzilla2.

HAHA, I forgot about that guy, Nevermore. I'd say it's safe to assume that he IS a TransFan. And he probably think he has some small part in the process of making the film. I guess in some ways his VW bot did inspire the movie.

Tom DeSanto actually confirms that in his interview in the IDW Movie Adaption #1.
