What a great series of films to watch. I love the June 17, 1994 film. It was quite an emotional day in sports. Any thoughts on the films??

I've seen probably about 6 or so fully and caught bits and pieces of another 4 or 5. Great series of films, it's something to hear the stories and see what happens behind the scenes of these sports events, teams and stars. Been thinking of picking up the set for some time, maybe when Amazon has a gold box deal on it.

I agree, those two were great films.

I know this is an old thread, but I just watched "This WAS the XFL." Very entertaining.

I always enjoy the 30 for 30 specials. I'm still waiting for them to replay the Danny Almonte story. It aired once and seemingly never again.

That one was a very good one. I had to laugh at the end credits though when they said Tommy Maddox won Super Bowl XL. While it is correct that he has a Super Bowl ring, he lost his starting job the previous season. Antwaan Randle-El had more passing yards in that game than he did.

Broke was a good one. The utter stupidity of those athletes who pissed away their money like that was amusing in some sick way to me.

There are a lot of good ones and almost all of them except the most recent releases are on Netflix.

The two about "The U" are very good.
The Four Falls of Buffalo was great.
The Two Escobar was really good as well.

I've only seen the day the World Series stopped
I watched because I was in that earthquake close to the epicenter and was 12 at the time.

And also something for gold about Tonya Harding and Nancy Kerrigan

Pony Excess, about SMU was god tier.

As was the one about the Boz (which made me tear up a bit at one part) as well as the one about Len Bias.

I love ESPN's 30 for 30s. Cannot believe nobody's mentioned O.J.: Made in America. Forget just the series, this is absolutely one of the best anything I've ever watched in my life. Nominated for the Best Documentary Oscar, I cannot imagine anything topping it and hope it wins.

From what I've seen, my favourites:
9.79*: Ben Johnson getting stripped of his gold in the 1988 Olympic 100m for steroids, his rivalry with Carl Lewis (and the other participants of that race), and overall insight into doping
Catching Hell: probably doesn't resonate as much since the Cubbies just won it all, but still a fascinating look at the Steve Bartman saga

Because I grew up in the era of 90s basketball:
    The Fab Five
Winning Time: Reggie Miller vs. The New York Knicks
    This Magic Moment

Looks like I still have some catching up to do

That was a good 30 for 30. I too, lived through the great Loma Prieta quake, but in San Jose. My dad and I were waiting for the Giants vs. A's in the World Series, then all hell broke loose. My dad completely froze, so I had to grab him and usher him under the table during the quake, which seemed like an eternity. I was 15 at the time.

No Mas was pretty good, too. Bad Boys is one of my favorites, even though I hated those Pistons teams of the 80's. I keep missing Phi Slamma Jamma. Whenever it's supposed to air, soccer or something else ends up airing in its stead. It's starting to become annoying.

The Fab 5 was great, but I don't think that was a 30 for 30. I believe it was "ESPN Films presents."

I can't wait for the Nature Boy special, but the airing date is TBD.

Bad Boys was one of my favorites as well because that's when the NBA was fantastic!

I'm surprised there haven't been any episodes for the Showtime Lakers of the 80's or Jordan's Bulls and their title runs.

Fantastic Lies, about the Duke Lacrosse team was pretty good. I remember that story being all over the news during that time, and people didn't know what to think when the girl said she made it all up. I always wondered if she was paid off to suddenly make that confession.
