Wouldn't work well as canon because why would there a be movies in their universe about transformers who just happen to have the same names and similar designs (in the case of Optimus/BB/Megatron) as them?

Might work if this takes place after the transformers are public knowledge.

 

I could see the concept working if it went the route that CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER went, where he has comics made about him, he has his own TV show, etc.

Well i'll preface my commentary by first saying it would be a horrible snooze-fest of an episode.

However in regards to the quoted and similar arguments, this could be something similar to the "Wormhole X-treme" episodes of Stargate. The government permitted a show, and later a movie to be created around the existence of the Stargate, which was supposed to be a closely guarded government secret. The reason was "Plausible Deniability". Anyone who makes any claim to have seen the Stargate (or for the TFP universe, to have seen the Transformers) could be seen as a delusional individual who became too wrapped up in this work of fiction and lost touch with the difference between reality and fantasy.

 

While I do not agree with this specific idea presented, I do agree that an episode of Prime dealing with movies about the Transformers could work. Make it similar to the "Wormhole X-Treme!" episode of Stargate SG-1, in that the government funds Hollywood to make a movie about transforming robots as a cover should knowledge of the Autobots leak to the public.

I don't think it should happen because:

-It would totally break universe and be too meta. The only ones who would understand it are the more knowledgable fans, and there's no guarantee they'll appreciate it.

-A big licensing and royalty fuss would have to be sorted out and frankly it's not worth it because of the above reason.

I mean with season 2 going on a break, anything from TFP is fine by me.

and if they couldn't animate that episode, just get the guys and girls from the show, put them in a room to watch the Bayformers movies. record everything and make it available as an exclusive download.
