Yeah, I wouldn't use any of the movie characters as an example of a multi dimensional character.

And before you start throwing "geewunners," I'd like to state that I don't like G1 either.

Maybe he meant literally 3D, as in, if you watch the episode with the right glasses...

After finally watching this episode, I'm starting to think Transformers Prime is gonna be the darkest series we get. I'm lovin' every second of it!!!

Totally agree I have been waiting 20 years for A show like prime: darker smarter stories, good character development, great designs that pay tribute to the originals.

Oh I am a 'geewunner', but I do not pretend to act like it is perfect. That said I love the beast era and i found animated to be top notch but prime is simply (in my opinion) the best Transformers series since the G1 cartoon.

Yeah the more mature side of TF: Prime has spoiled me. Just 5 minutes earlier I tried to watch the first episode of RiD and turned it off befor it finished. The writing was so childish and the voice acting didn't help. For me, Prime hit the sweet spot. Detailed character models, yet still stylized. Great voice acting. Human characters are improving. The tone is darker. More mature writing. It seems to have the right amount of everything.

Dark? Please. Raf got somewhat hurt. Big deal. It wasn't like he was bleeding or missing limbs. Harry Potter from the films got far more messed up and even died in the last movie and that was considered a kids/young adult franchise. All Raf got was blackened eyes and came close death for a while, but we all knew he was coming back. That's the most harm a human is going to suffer in a kid's TV show.

Yeah, but unlike the darker movie Optimus, this Optimus was a softie until this episode. Of course I like softie Optimus better than the movies' psychotic one.

Compared purely to some other Transformers series, this one is indeed darker.

Oh yeah. I tried watching RiD and Cybertron today. Both no where near as dark as Prime. RiD was clearly written for 5-8 year olds with one liners I cringed at. Cybertron everyone shouted the name of their attacks as if it's Pokemon. Prime is darker than previous incarnations with out a doubt.

It's darker than all other series, but I don't consider it truly dark. Dark would be having the Autobots discover Airachnid's cave and find several chopped off human heads hanging from her spider silk strands. But that wouldn't be allowed in a kid's show.

No, not human heads, but she did have a couple of alien heads on her ship.

It's a childrens show so we are comparing it to children shows standards. It is dark. As dark as the satanic black metal I listen to? No. As dark as those gorey slasher flicks? No. Darker than Animated? Yes.

Why does everyone want transformers to be so GRIMDARK BLOOD AND GUTS EVERYWHERE HUMANS DYING OH GOD THE CARNAGE

I'm almost positive it's so that you won't look so dumb for watching a kids show, because its "dark". "Look, see? The kid died! This is a mature show for mature viewers such as myself!" I like Prime because it's serious, it doesn't need to be the kind of dark Spunky is talking about.

I agree with SInnertwin here. Sometimes, darker actualy makes it feel IMMATURE because of trying too hard-ness.

Prime's tone is fine. It's serious to the point where anybody can watch it without feeling "man im watchin a cartoon" but not dark enough to the point of kids going "MOOOOOOOOOOOOM IM SCAAAAAARED"

All this talk of Prime being dark...
I'll agree... It's blacker than the blackest black times infinity.

Because it's about a war, perhaps?

Imagine Saving Private Ryan if no one died or got seriously hurt, thus not showing us, and having us feel, the consequences of war.
