Transformers Prime: Stronger, Faster - Review

Transformers Prime: Stronger, Faster - Review

Note: I am writing this as practice for future episodes. As always feedback is welcome.

In this episode Ratchet has taken it upon himself to make an attempt
at finishing the synthetic energon formula, that was lost in the episode
“T.M.I.”, and not a moment too soon it would seem. The Autobot’s own
supply of energon has reached an all-time low, due to the Decepticon
army’s recent attacks. It isn’t long before they start to cause trouble,
and while the other Autobots roll out, to try and put them in there
place, Ratchet stays behind, as usual, wishing there was a way for him
to do more for the team.

Ratchet seems to be portrayed as a very knowledgeable and useful
member of the Autobots. I get the feeling that he doesn’t just care for
his team mates, but he also genuinely cares about the kids. I think he
wants to do his best to turn the table in the good guy’s favor, and that
is admirable, but it leads to him making a very foolish decision. He
decides that since doing the proper tests of his new synthetic energon
would take far too long to complete he must go ahead and test it on
himself; all for the greater good. I honestly believe he thought he was
doing the right thing, given what I feel about his character.

At first it would seem as though the test is a success. The fake energon
seems to be working it’s magic with no ill-effects, or so it would seem.
While the rest of the Autobots are out chasing Breakdown and generally
kicking some ass, one of them gets themselves into trouble and Ratchet
rushes in to lend a and. For the formula’s first real test in the field of
battle, it would seem to pass with flying colors. I don’t want to give anyone
any spoilers here, so let’s just Ratchet succeeded in getting the Autobot
    out of a tough situation.

Of course, after swiftly swooping in and saving the day, Optimus Prime’s
sagely wisdom shines though and he questions Ratchet’s methods. This
is where things start to go south. It’s tough to give you a lot of details
and not really give away much of the story, but what follows is another
conflict the Decepticons and Ratchet thinks being a one-man wrecking
crew will somehow prove himself to the others, especially Optimus Prime.
Of course this is not the case and he bites off more than he can chew. He
acts without thinking, letting his new found corrupt him, and in the end it
turns out he have inadvertently given the Decepticons an advantage over
the Autobots (Can’t really go into detail here. You’ll have to watch the episode
    for that to make sense).

All in all it was an ok episode. Certianly not the worst, and yet it wasn’t
the best I’ve see so far either. The very concept was predictable and I
think that lent itself to a mediocre experience. In the end it's worth seeing,
yet not a complete loss to skip.

Oh, and when Ratchet said "Come at me" I instantly edited it in my head to "Come at me, bro!"

Why would he be dead? Either way they'd definitely make a bigger deal out of it if he did die.

If you put (Spoilers) in your thread title, you could write your reviews without worry of ruining it for anyone that doesn't want to know. Good review btw.

:rolleyes2  at the whole roid-rage storyline. This reminded me why Ratchet is my favourite character design on the show, we saw a lot of the character from all angles and alt modes, and it truly is a glorious design. Unfortunately the storyline kinda turned me off the character. He had struck me as a wiser and more cautious guy than to try something like this. The 'studdlier' version of Ratchet was a total dick.

On the plus side, the animation really seems to be coming on. The visuals in this episode struck me as substantially better than some of the earlier ones. The directing on some of the action sequences was phenomenal.

Originally I could have sworn Optimus had referred to the Decepticon miner as civilian class, but he actually did say servant.

Oh well, not the first time I've been wrong. Wont be the last.

So I wonder if Ratchet's rant to Optimus is really how he feels about him and the synthetic Energon basically shut his vocal filter off.:lol

What especially makes that scene interesting is what ends up happening in the next episode.

Yeah, I'd agree with the whole idea of Ratchet basically being, in one way or another, drunk. What he said was probably something that he had on his mind, but wasn't exactly how he felt.

    Oct 1st for ep 24,
    Oct 8th for ep 25 &
    Oct 15th for ep 26.

personally, I can't wait but only because teletoon stuck us with the biggest cliff hanger of all time.

Back on Topic: Did anyone notice the Batman move Ratchet did at the end of his fight with the Vehicons? That was awesome!
