this isn't a thread where "i discovered you can do this", this is a thread where i discovered the WAY TO CORRECTLY DO IT!

alright, i was just looking at the engine and i noticed these grooves, they are for holding onto the gun

so i made sure after fiddling for a few seconds that the gun was in these grooves, and omg this thing ain't coming apart unless i pull it apart, this darn thing is SECURE!

here is an image to show the gun in the groove

and here is the finished product, as you can see, if it wasn't holding together securely like i said there would be no way in hell i could do this

so yeah, after all these years, the answer is finally here, it takes a few moments to get it to connect right, and it will pop itself out a couple times, but the trick i found was hold the grey engine parts down and slide the gun in, not fully, but just enough that it will fit securely into the engine block

Not to be snarky, but how else would you attach it?

    holds just as securely

i know most people just attempted to fold the blocks over the gun, that didn't work, and they gave up, that is what i did

what i am trying to say is the correct way to put it together is:
fold the blocks up and slide the gun in (not all the way) until it fit securely

i'll take a photo of me doing it with all my classic lambo releases (this one is red alerts gun) later

Red Alerts was the first one I got to fit securely as well... the rest would hold some of the time. Maybe they made some sort of tiny change?

I still have issues with making it stay on Red Alert. That said i dont even have the engine on him. I just dont think it looks good on Red Alert.

Well, there's always people who haven't heard of common knowlege. Seems like some people have been helped by this. :thumb

Though you should know, there's mold tolerance involved.

Back when I got Sunstreaker and people were doing this, mine just wouldn't sit securely. When Sideswipe came out I picked him up and he had no such issues with it.

Unfortunately, the rotational joint on one of his doors was warped to the point it wouldn't stay in. I got another one and his engine wouldn't sit on the gun either, so I took back the factory error with the crappy engine. :lol

Some super glue around the ridges on the underside of the engine flaps would probably help, though.

I've had Sunstreaker and his twin since they came out w/the universe2.0 line, and I didnt know the guns + engine could combine. It was only when I got RedAlert last week that I saw that. Must not have been paying attn.

Am I the only person who only uses the engine on Sunstreaker? And for him, I leave it on his back. Sideswipe, Red Alert, and G2 Breakdown all have their engines in the boxes.

Right. My Sunstreaker has his on his back. The rest, well... the Henkei versions don't come with them.

I use the backpacks on both Sunstreaker and Sideswipe, but I turn it upside-down for 'swipe so he has a jetpack.

I thought about that until I realized I had nothing to do with it in car mode. Sideswipe never had big turbos sticking out in car mode in G1.
