Which prime does he combine with?
Is there more than 1 version? If so, which is the best version?
Are there different ways to combine WS with op?

It combines with the Leader Energon Prime. As far as I know there is only one version, two if you count the Superlink release.

There are 2 combination configurations; I don't have any pics but I'm sure someone will provide them.

Yeah, the US one has clear red hands too for the 'flight' combination. And the cockpit/engine intakes for Wingsaber's vehicle mode. Also noticed the Minicon port on the 'flight' combination's shoulder has a white peg, unlike what the link shows. Just happened to have mine to hand here to check. :)

There are two versions of Optimus Prime in the Energon Series. The Leader sized one (comes with four drones and trailer—this is the one you want) and a deluxe sized one that was part of a TRU exclusive set that came with a smaller Megatron (the smaller Prime can combine with deluxe sized Energon Autobots). The Leader sized Prime did have a variant where a square chunk of Prime's face plate was removed to show his mouth. It was later replaced with the traditional Prime face plate. The lips version is probably more rare than the traditional face plated Prime. WS basically becomes drone arms and legs for Prime and you can switch the arms and legs to create "Fight" or "Flight" modes for him.

The Japanese one also had the clear plastics. Those would be Hasbro's own promotional images for the toy which evidently used either solid plastics or a hand painted prototype.

Poor Energon Wingsaber. He was nothing more than new clothes for Prime. :(

To the point it became a running joke in the special episode:

    "Optimus let's combine!" "Yeah!"
"We'll show them Optimus, let's combine!" "Yeah!"

It's too bad the show basically did that to him, only to forget him toward the end when newer powerup options were available. As I recall his showdown with Shockwave was very understated too - and this was the guy who not only nearly killed him but who did kill his best friend. At least he could have had one awesome moment there.

Fun toy though. I was one of the first to import the guy way back when and I was one of the first to accept him in spite of his flaws. I just really like something about the guy.

He looks real cool. Really reminds me of the Brave's aesthetics. I havent got him but I will one day.

I can't find the images of WS combined with Classic OP. Anyone else know where to find these, I am positive I have seen them before...

But Energon/Superlink Wing Saber was the closest we've got for an updated Star Saber & I salute the Makers for that.

Unless, they were planning to release Star Saber (later stage) as part of TFG/Henkei 2.0 or something & I'll be blown away totally.
