I've been gaining interest in the Energon combiners (Superion, Bruticus and Constructicons), but some of the pictures of them don't look appealing enough to make me completely want them. Is there other ways to transform their limbs to look more appealing and/or give them more articulation?

Apart from Fansproject add on kits, there probably isn't a lot you can do with them.

You can do the crane guys in the construction one in an alternate mode so that it looks like they've got better hands and propper elbows.

Lots of variations on the limbs possible without the FP sets. The thing is that without the 3rd party upgrades you can still have an OK combiner, they're more fun in person than the pictures make out. But with the extras they become AWESOME!

I don't buy third party stuff, and this is no exception. I was looking for some pictures for more variations.

Bruticus on his own is pretty crappy in my opinion.

I strongly recommend you revise your policy against 3rd party stuff.

As you can see TBS, there are alternate ways to configure the limbs, however the problem lays in the fact the every method looks like shit.

Real help? Taziir up there posted a good selection of alternative ways to transform two of the three combiners. Why don't you specify what you want better if all of these suggestions aren't to your liking, eh?

As for my suggestion, the FP stuff makes Bruticus and Superion. Plus, you get a proper Blastoff and Swindle out of the Bruticus set. Not a bad deal, really.

You might want to try some other hands (see above).

Those combos look good, and there seems like you could do somethings with them.

Also, I don't have any pictures of it but, before I bought the FP kit for Bruticus, I used both tanks for the arms and both helicopters for the legs. After you connect the tanks, you can seperate the tank treads from either side of the tank and use the knees of the robot mode legs as proper elbows. The legs of all of the combiners can use combination port as a knee since they use a pretty heavy ratcheting joint.

That's the thread I was looking to link before, good find :) .

There are plenty of Hasbro only variations to inspire you thebruteslayer. You can do some neat things with the limbs for Bruticus and Devastator, while vanilla Superion is... more challenging to work with but you can still get satisfying results.
