I had a reissue Hoist for a while. I thought it was pretty fun considering what it was. It definitely isn't a modern toy by any means, though.

I needed space and money so I sold it. And it had two left forearms, but that has nothing to do with whether or not I enjoyed it.

All I remember of the one my brother and I had when we were growing up is one of his legs that I played with by driving it around with it's one wheel. No idea what happened to the rest of him; broke off by a decepticon I suppose. So, yeah. I'll be picking up this reissue so I can enjoy the whole figure

I wold recommend the mold. It is one of my favorite G1 molds. I prefer Trailbreaker because I like the character better. I have both though and you can't go wrong with either one.

You have to understand that G1 toys are basically bricks, so posing for display is going to be limited. IMO, they can be a lot of fun. I have G1 Hoist somewhere, but I prefer Trailbreaker because I like his deco more.

I've preordered both, but I prefer Trailbreaker over Hoist so if you had to pick between the two I'd go with that one, but that's just me. I like the look of that mold more than Hoist. As for fun factor, I like other G1 molds more, but this one's nifty in its own right so I wouldn't worry about that.

trailbreaker's the more popular character but hoist is the better toy cuz he can tow around the bot cars after pub crawls.

It's funny he's nothing spectacular but I must say he still holds up as a personal favorite of mine. Dont ask me why but I just love this toy for some reason and would definitely recommend it to others. And for a $35 that's more then a great price to snag one at :D

It depends what you're after, but I'd highly recommend Trailbreaker or Hoist - and indeed, any G1 reissues you can get hold of.

If it's your absolute first G1 TF, I don't know. If I knew someone who wanted to experience G1 for the first time, I'd want them to check out Prime, Prowl, Jazz, Sideswipe, or one of the seekers.

Trailbreaker/Hoist is a decent mold, but I wouldn't file it among "best of G1".
