question, I know that encore transformer toys are like the original toys but they are not. And you all remember that I'm looking for a G1 Shockwave. I want to know, did they make a encore Shockwave? It's still driving me crazy and if I can't find one yet I might have to type an ad for a WTB Shockwave on Craig's list.

I don't think the mold exists anymore. You can get a KO at KOTOYS and it actually looks really awesome. I think some people even said that it's better than the original release in some aspects. Just a suggestion if you want it bad enough.

Hasbro / Takara don't have the rights to the mold, last I heard.

shockwave was not made by takara, and in fact i believe it was created by a korean company; thus takara would NOT be able to reissue it.

unless they bought the company, or the molds from the company.

and the rights to it, as well.

hasbro MIGHT have the rights; but it is a gun, and a toy that has the strength of a wet paper towel lol.

so i doubt hasbro would ever reissue it.

they may though, make a generations version, with a orange cap. :)

If they make a Generations Shockwave, then he won't be a gun.

I read with interest how some of you boys commented on how "impossible" it is to reissue Shockwave, simply because TakaTom doesn't own the molds.

*Think Sky Lynx & Omega Supreme* :dunce

I'm curious if DotM could help Takara (or maaaaaaybe Hasbro, though probably as another online exclusive reissue like the Seacons this year) feel that it's worth it to settle any licensing issues with the owners of the original mold and reissue it to capitalize on any resurgence in interest in the Shockwave character. I don't think a prominent role in the movies means anything significant when it comes to reissues...but I am curious if it gives a character at least a little bump (especially since Shockwave is a "core" character from G1 anyways).

If I'm not mistaken, they had to merge with another company before they could released Sky Lynx and Omega Supreme. :lol

It's not the same company though. The one that owns Shockwave is still separate.

I thought the company that owns the mold went bankrupt and the mold rights is in legal limbo.

it is impossible; unless they were to BUY the company or the rights.

:lol  and i doubt they would, when they have all those OTHER molds; that are far more profitable to go to, like the combiners lol.

Sky Lynx and Omega were licensed from ToyBox, a company that Tomy already owned at the time they merged with Takara,

Shockwave came from ToyCO, a Korean company. Last i remember, ToyCo were still in operation. Reportedly they were even displaying Astro Magnum at an exhibition a few years ago, highlighting the fact that it ended up in Transformers.

Takara Reissue isn't impossible.... but odds are definitely on the slim side.

    Hasbro.......much more slim again.

"Technically" arent reissues from Takara, they were first time releases.

Rather than a reissue, I personally would like to just see a new Generations/WFC style Shockwave.

With some of the toys Has/Tak has been unveiling lately, you gotta believe that a true Classics-type Shockwave is in the works for the near future.
