i liked it from the moment i saw it a couple weeks back (or, maybe, a week). but i don't '150 dollars like' it.

people tend to forget about those. technicality aside, it's a pretty safe bet that the exclusive repaints of the reissues will most likely never be reissued.

I gotta say that I agree with most of you, I think the price is rather high and don't really care for the green color, but on the flip side; I wasn't too sure about the Clear Mirage Binaltech either until I actually had him in hand.

I pre-ordered both, when April comes around if I still don't like it, I'll just cancel it. No biggie, but if by some chance I decide I really want it, I'll already have one on hold for me... win-win

They will make as many as ordered, like most of eHobby exclusives :)  And as the order is open until the 7th of January, right now even insiders wouldn't know how many.

I'd say there will be some people who will be selling their extra at yhj because you can order 2 per book purchase, but the toy is expensive to begin with, so I am guessing it'll be sold around 7000 ~ 8000yen at least.

Still, $150 sounds like a lot...

    you the man!

    Hmm ... we'll estimate.
    7,500 yen = $68 USD
    The book is $30

If you lived in Japan, you're looking at $98 MSRP. Shipping from Japan to the US via air = $25ish (for the normal schmoe like me)

I put my personal MSRP at $123. The BBTS $150 isn't so bad.

I am sorry, I wasn't clear. That 7000yen I quoted include the cost of the book.

    Breakdown for 2 green Ratchet;
    Book 3000yen + 2 toys 10000yen + domestic P&H

But if you still have to use proxy service to bid on yhj, the cost will shoot up, right? So yeah, BBTS's clever pricing impress me yet again...

As for the production number, I have just thought of Laser Ultra Magnus, who's still available at a bargain price at eHobby despite being an exclusive. So there must be a minimum number for any toy to be produced?

But is BBTS including the book?

EDIT: Whoops. Didn't see Syd's response. But my question still stands. (Even moreso now, really.)

Probably not, since you can get 2 figs per book.

That book has sweet cover art. Is that from anything available in the west?

Interesting, but I could spend the money on better transformers.

I would totally buy it but 150 is too steep right now. I am a huge fan of the colors for some reason.

As an aside, any idea when Encore Ratchet and Ironhide are gonna ship this month?

Yeah, so ideally there should be 2 kinds of preorders, 1 with the book with the token cut off (for $150 if must be) and the other just for the toy (for at least $30 less).

*Disclaimer; I know they are doing not a fan service but a business. It's more likely the books without the tokens will be sold separately, eh. *

I don't know ... I got my Tigertracks from BBTS and it included the book, but I don't know if that promotion was just like this one.

That's different because they were released before in Transformers. They were also a toy show exclusive. It's like when they re-released Sideswipe. None of the e-Hobby original recolors (new schemes or based on Diaclone) have been re-released before. So yes, there is probably less than 0% chance that Takara would re-release the green Ratchet at some point, as their is no presendence or desire for them to do so.

    Exactly.

Because Ratchet costs more in Japan (Ironhide is 4725 yen and Ratchet costs 7500 yen) and you need to purchase a $25 book to get even get the coupon to send for him. So 2950 yen plus 7500 yen equals 10450 or just under $100.

I paid $98 for the book and my Ratchet (before shipping).

I received notice today that they would actually be out on the 18th now.

Because Ironhide is an E-Hobby exclusive that any old folk can order off the E-Hobby site for 3000 Yen.

The Ratchet is exclusive to a book. You have to buy the book, then spend more per figure, with a MAXIMUM per book purchase of 2 figures. Plus postage. They're much more effort and time to get, and cost more off the bat.

    No, Ratchet is 5200yen. (2 for 10000yen).

So the book + 1 Ratchet is about 8200 yen. No doubt you are charged for the domestic P&H besides some markup, though :)

So what's the alternative to buying from BBTS for us outside Japan?

I don't know why, but I LOVE green Ratchet.

That said, I'd lop off my own junk before dropping 140 bucks on one.
