a very welcome encore reissue. its interesting that even 'new' reissues like Omega Supreme which you would expect to be highly sought after are being sold by online sellers at lower prices than initially and recenty items like jazz and ratchet/ironhide for sale as little as $20. i wonder if there are simply lots available or perhaps the fact that an item suddenly becomes commonplace makes it less desirable to some collectors?

    1. Anyone who thought Ironhide and Ratchet would sell out at $35 has never seen Ironhide and Ratchet. I bought two of each but even I realize they're not to be mentioned when singing the praises of G1.

Jazz is a complete mystery though. Once I heard the mold was corrected, I bought eight of them. A little overboard, but the only one I passed on to that point was Megatron, because I have the TFC and New Year's already and didn't want another open one with an orange plug.

    2. I think online retailers really overcharged for SkyLynx/Omega/Metroplex (it'd be interesting to know the Japanese street price on them). Then factor in the fans' employment and the general economy. But also notice how fast Optimus and Megatron sold out.

Again here, I got a pair of SkyLynxes (one on sale) but already had Metroplex and didn't want to pay $110 for Omega. They're not bad choices but the markup is not helping. I've been wanting to pick up Sixshot out of curiousity, but I'll pass if they price him above SkyLynx.

It's not for lack of money (see Jazz), I'd just rather have more pre-movie/Diaclones. If they want to do some more big sets, how about Bruticus or Menasor, both of which I'll preorder tomorrow at $90 or less?

Sky Lynx - 8,000 Yen (same price Armada Unicron and Cybertron Supreme Starscream and Primus sold for).

Omega Supreme - 10,000 Yen (around the same price region as Movie Ultimate Bumblebee or the Masterpiece toys sans Convoy with trailer).

Metroflex - 7,000 Yen (a little more than Movie Leader Class Optimus Prime and Megatron, which sold for 6,500 Yen each).

the mark up prices are usually realistic especially as items bought at jp retail and then shipped (air) to the west costs roughly the same as the mark up plus the lower domestic shipping. eg OS was about $80 but to ship that from japan would be around $35 minimum, close to what online stores are selling him at.

also ironhide/ratchet admittedly they are less popular figures (i still think they are great i their own weird way) but an importer still has to charge for the overheads, and they were about $25 retail to begin with!

kimmer, 'toynk' just outside chicago had them at that price a few weeks ago, im not sure if that was a permanent reduction. check the website. edit, sorry, they are back at normal prices, $30 jazz and $50 for both minivans together. sorry.

thanks for that info. so metroplex (around $65) is sold at a $20 markup ($85)roughly, personally i feel that is very realistic esp. with good online retailers sending pristine well packed items. if i got a friend in japan to mail me one it would cost $65+$25 ship plus extra to cover PP fees so about the same.

Keep in mind that stuff in Japan is generally pricier than it is in the US. You'd have to compare importing Encores to importing other Japanese toys, not to buying those toys at US retail.

If I hadn't bought a 100% NM one about 6 months ago I'd be all over this.

Looks fantastic. I am thinking about trading my original plastic tire version for this one.

Wait, Sixshot is confirmed? Since when? I'm slightly interested in getting him, but I'd probably wait for the inevitable HK sale...
