This figure is not an MP reissue. This is a reissue of the original God Fire Convoy from the Car Robots series. It was known here as Robots in Disguise and aired in the US in early 2000's. However, if you want to talk about MP's riddled with QC issues feel free to take a look at MP Ramjet.

@TCJJ answered my question about Takara and Hasbro QC issues and much of it dealt with the masterpiece line. Check some pages back. Worlds greatest knows what he meant.

Yes, I am aware. I was responding to the post about Masterpiece issues over the years.

But yeah, you're right about Ramjet. Inverted fins and all.

I’m surprised as well. But man, this being more expensive than any other masterpiece and having that many QC issues is extremely shocking.

Absolutely. I decided to take advantage of one of those 15% Ebay sales top get these dudes and felt pretty good about it.

    Now, not so much!

Well, if it makes you feel better, my copy is perfect. No problems and loving it. Even with the QC problems I would have been with the exception of having two right leg pieces instead of one leg and one right.

I have both and haven't noticed any chipping. I'd say the paint is actually quite durable.

Because not every single figure is that way. But people have shown pictorial evidence

I'm not a fan of the omega prime combined mode, but I do have to admit that fire convoy's helmet design is pretty awesome. The extra gear for supermode is neat too even if you don't go supermode with it. I do like how it goes Omega Prime though with the "handshake/holding hands" transformation. It feels so cybertronian symbiote like.

That's a bit over-the-top. "Abandoning G1" because they made 1 non-G1 figure in one of the lines? 1 Car Robot release in Encore hardly means "Encore is nothing but non-G1 now." Same with MP - Dinobot being made hardly makes it non-G1 centric now. And Legends isn't gone, although I get what you're complaining about there - it's continuance in a limited fashion, only releasing a few exclusives isn't what most of us wanted. As for their mainline becoming identical to Hasbro releases, that's likely a matter of trying to increase sales at a lower price point in Japan.

    Oh lordy.

Anyway Brandon got back to me, he'll do a once over but made it very clear that it's a case of if it's not good you're out of luck which is fair. Don't expect them to open every box and cherry pick me the best one. Just trying to avoid expensive shipping both ways if it's a dud.

Stay on topic guys, less bickering about what this isn't and more excitement about what it is.

    Thanks

I just got my TTM "exclusive" Grand (?) Max yesterday. The "Cerebros" robot's right shoulder is extremely floppy, while the big sword had assembly problems (the big piece at the top needed excessive force to clip it into the bottom/main piece). I compared it to my Fort Max, which doesn't have this problem.

Good for you. Plenty of people had, especially with Megatron. I also find a lot of people on these boards love to say "I've had no issues, but I never play with nor transform my toys", which makes it a moot point to even begin with. And even then, some people get luckier than others. My MP-36 wasn't as bad as some people's copies, but after transforming him a few times, I've now got scratches where plenty of other people haven't, and that's not from being rough from it - it's literally from parts scraping against each other because of the engineering.

There is hardly any spacing in MP36 and I would call that intolerances instead. I bought a second one so it could be a display piece and I could transform the first one many times without worrying. Granted, there’s just not enough to override the spacing issues.

But he’s also one of my favorite transformers to date. His transformation is a good brain exercise. It’s complex but still rewarding.

God Fire Convoy is more complex than I imagined for a 2001 one toy. Though he has a hard time holding such a ridiculously large sword, pose it just right and it’s a nice display piece.
