how much did i love my metroplex. so much so i remember exactly when i got him as a kid. feb. '86 on a friday from a KB; unboxed him right on the kitchen floor. had it all over omega (which i had just got for christmas). and it must have the chrome and rubber tires. i'll settle for nothing less. as for why takara is releasing it? don't know, but i'm glad they are. seems to me it's easier to give fans what they want and make a profit than to start lawsuits that are always long, drawn out, and expensive. how many in this thread already have said they're glad they waited for a takara release. indeed.
You don't need to show lost profits to get an injunction against someone's copyright infringement. You just need to show a valid copyright and that someone is using the copyright without permission. That's all you need to get a court to tell them to stop.
sweet i'm happy i did not go for the ko metroplex...i'm still going to get the pink metrotitan tho...simply because i think the pink makes an interesting contrast....i'm also hoping for an ehobby red metrotitan and a possible future fort max
I wonder what Takara Tomy will do to entice me to by reissues of toys I already have originals of? Anime colored Thundercracker and Skywarp? Clear E-Hobby versions? Metro Titan would be awesome.
Awesome. I'm SO glad they've decided to really get the Encore line rolling. I missed out on most of the reissues the first time around, so I'm loving this, even if my wallet isn't. My only problem now is setting up a display case worthy of all this shiny G1 goodness!
i had a stronger sigh that one day they will release Trypticon, fort max, scorponok, and all combiner. YEAH~~
The problem is you need the government where the offending business is to put the injuction. China on the surface claims to subscribe to international trade laws but doesn't enforce copyright infringement. Pretty much there is no chance to touch the KO makers in China. If they were somewhere else, they would be skunked by now.
No, you're wrong. There is a distinction between a criminal prosecution for copyright infringement and civil litigation over it. For criminal prosecution, yes, you need a lot of government involvement. In particular, you need help from law enforcement--i.e., Chinese police/feds. However, for civil litigation you don't need government involvement beyond the court system, which obeys international copyright law. In other words, as long as it's civil litigation, the only obstacle is the cost of international litigation. (And it would be civil litigation.)
Great news, indeed. So happy that I waited out the KOs. Never really wanted Metroplex since I have Maximus, but I have wanted Metrotitan for years (see signature), so this offers hope for a well-done eHobby Metrotitan. Take that, KO-makers!! Also great news for folks who don't own the original Seekers. My wallet is very happy that Screamer, Cracker, and Warp are already on my Con shelf.
Awesome! I need Metroplex! I'm not buying that KO Piece of crap. C'mon Takara! Reissue the Dinobots!!!
This is great- Metroplex is one of my top choices easily for the next Encore. I love waking up to find something that makes me happy to spend $90.
I'm so glad I swore off reissues. All these giant bots are making the line really expensive. I am leaving the door open for interesting ehobby stuff though *coughmetrotitancoughguardiancough*.
