Nothing really...just another yahoo like everyone else expressing their opinion on the net. I'd miss ebeg if there were no internet...
Check. It's like there's a critical mass where once you have so much money, you're so insulated from the burdens of the real world that you make decisions indepedent of their logic or potential consequences.
Just think of the logistics of getting rid of the internet.....Celebs need to think before they speak.
The famous have this strange idea of "do as I say, not as I do". Hey, Elton, if you shut down the Internet, that would mean you couldn't frequent the gay porn sites... Insert foot, Sir Elton. Heather
Geez, Elton John is a moron! The Internet isn't "destroying good music" - there's quite a few performers who have become my absolute faves that I would never have discovered if it weren't for the 'net! I would never have found both of my One True Religions (TM) - Discordianism and the Church of the SubGenius - if it weren't for the 'net. And I sure wouldn't be able to keep up with the latest news, and make new friends, in relation to my favorite hobbies - such as Transformers - if it weren't for the Internet. I think he's just jealous that REAL talent of the home-grown variety is sucking away all the money that people would otherwise be spending on corporate, mediocre mainstream shite if it weren't for the Internet being there to give the masses a nearly-limitless variety of options for what people WANT. For example, besides the obvious fan-hobby stuff, what do *I* want out of the Internet? I want counterculture art and literature, I want to be able to talk about my non-mainstream atheist and anarchist views with like-minded people, I want to be able to explore movies and art and music that isn't found through corporate-produced, mass-culturally-"approved" mainstream outlets. And I sure as hell would NOT be able to get those things through regular "establishment" outlets. The Internet isn't about "destroying" culture - it's about CREATING culture. And, more importantly, it's about giving ALL of us the impetus to create and have an outlet to share that creativity. Oh, and not to mention to buy lots of crap and look at lots of porn.
Well, you beat me to my thought. I was about to say the last time he did anything I cared about was around 1971... three years before I was born. Madman Across the Water... darn good album.
I'm with EJ. I mean, who needs the 'net? Really? Get rid of cell phones, too. It's stopping people from meeting anymore and talk face to face and on and on... right?
