Hey there! I wasn't really happy with Elita-1's torso mode; you can hardly see her head! And it doesn't look, uh, "feminine" the way I'd like it to (I'm hoping to get some better ratio on my 'bot shelf, sort of thing). So I'm working on my own piece. I don't think this one will go on Shapeways--it's just too big. So I'll probably post some CAD files here once I'm done with it. Turn Elita-Torso's head around (stealing an idea from Perfect Effect here) and this chest plate plugs into the two hexagonal holes on her boosters, and the two rectangular slots on either side of the waist. I was thinking along the same lines when I got my Elita-1. Elita-1's gestalt mode chest seems like a cluttered mess in trying to add the jet cockpit in the front. I guess they were trying to utilize all sides of the bot or the different modes, but sometimes the back of a bot needs to remain the back of a bot... Unlike the CW series, Hasbro did not add much of a chestplate for the fully combined gestalts. Hun-Gurr had more of a g1ish look with its transformable chestplate. I wish Hasbro put more thought to the other combiner chestplates.
Well, she's a mold-sister to PotP Starscream who does the same thing. That said, it doesn't look a whole lot better on him, although at least the "cockpit on the front" carries back to the character's usual 'bot mode. And I could see how they'd be unable to do a good combiner chest mode from the "back" (which is the inside of the leg boosters). You're right that some kind of shield/breastplate (like I just made) would have helped a lot, but I guess that wasn't in the price point for PotP Voyagers (which is weird because they feel a *lot* lighter than CW or TR ones!)
Could you modify this for Starscream with a certain 'different' chestplate? I mean Starscream would make a Great Liozack.
I could probably turn this into a mini-jet sort of thing now that I have the dimensions right... Meanwhile, I've gone to "Revision C" (the earlier post shows "Revision A"...)
Very nice...yeah, I noticed the simple expediency of turning the torso around makes her Combiner form look immensely better, but, lacking 3D printer, I've been trying to cudgel a fan-mode chestpiece using a Scout/Commander-class figure (preferably using the Groove/Rust Dust mould, for character reasons).
His torso mode overall also seems like an intentional homage to his Bayverse design. I'm kinda disappointed the usual suspects when it comes to combiner add-ons hasn't tried to do more with any of the teams besides Volcanicus. Seems odd they didn't even do monster knees for Hun-Gurr.
Seriously! I guess PerfectEffect just wants to do actual toys now instead of accessories... In other news, this is now on Thingiverse: Transformers Elita-1 Chest Plate by mtpowers1
It's amazing how much better this looks on Elita. Doesn't Starscream have a slightly different design in back that makes this either harder...or impossible?
Thank you! I wouldn't know, I never got PotP Starscream because it didn't really excite me (it's pretty obviously Elita-1 cosplaying as Starscream)
