I noticed that you hadn't picked up on this story when from 26th November, but Hasbro have trademarked Elita-1.

Category: Toy action figures, toy vehicles and toy robots convertible into other visual toy forms and accessories for use therewith

    Edit
Sorry for my brothers double spelling mistake of Elita-1's name his post. I've corrected the one in the link but not the subject. I'll be having "words" with him later

I'm confused Elita-1 has had toys this year and trademarking the name means what exactly?

I feel like i'm missing something here.

They're renewing tm for useage next year?
    Movie appearance?
    Another toy?
Just to keep custody of name?
Is this a new application or did you find last years?

This, basically. Hasbro are trying to register the name, which means they intend to continue using it for their toys.

Looks like a new one. Apparently they just figured the name is good enough to not just use it once and then abandon it.

    But why the thread?

I don't understand the whole "OMG we broke the news first", a trademark filing is hardly news worthy unless it is some long lost classic making a return and even then it's a stretch.

    @Nevermore.

Yep, it's a new registration of the name (which I spelt wrong on the post).

    Prosecution History

    1. Saturday, 27th of November 2010 - Notice Of Pseudo Mark Mailed
    2. Friday, 26th of November 2010 - New Application Office Supplied Data Entered In Tram
    3. Thursday, 25th of November 2010 - New Application Entered In Tram

@Recall - I thought people may have be interested that they have registered the name. Some people find it interesting, others don't. I just wanted to point out that it was registered again, as Hasbro oftem trademark names which they intend to use, othertimes it's just so they can protect the name.

Non-FP-able news are still news and this is the right forum. Thanks for posting this!

At least it's evidence that they're maintaining another well-known female Autobot name aside from Arcee.

I don't see any evidence of her appearing in the third TF movie as anything other than one of the remaining Arcee sisters at the most if one or more survived. I know the movie did not refer to any of the Arcee sisters as individuals with names, so, despite toy references, she could appear as a completely different movie character. One would think, however, that it would have been revealed by now with all the filming footage. One would have at least photographed her head on a pole.

I'm thinking it's more likely that she will be either appearing in future episodes of the "Transformers Prime" series or "Transformers One" if the newly registered trademark is referring to a new Transformers televison or internet series. (I hope it takes place at the same time and in the same universe as "Transformers Prime".)

Maybe Elita-1 will be shown in Flashbacks of TFP.

    Still, interesting news indeed.

Wishful thinking here, but is Hasbro planning a Classics Arcee with plans to remold it into Elita 1?

    Maybe.

I'd probably be more interested in the Paradron Medic, even though she's the weaker character. I like the deco.

I'd like this. I'm kind of sick of Arcee being the Smurfette of the TF world.

Prime toys are a while off. Movie toys probably not finalised just yet.
Could be either, both, or neither.

Uh oh, here comes those guys, that say this will be the sister that makes the movie bike sisters combine.

More than likely it's for prime.

Hasbro only applies for trademarks in the "toy" field. Trademarks are usually of no relevance to names of characters appearing in fiction, unless the characters are specifically used in advertising.

And since that is no product in the "toys" category, it's equally irrelevant for Hasbro.
