Knowing your stuff =/= being a good writer. So far, all I can say is I didn't like the movies I know are written by him that I've seen, but who knows. Maybe he just had bad luck in the process. edit: HE wrote that script? Cos I didn't like it back then. Only part I liked that was clever was Ultra Magnus carrying other Autobots, and Autobots hiding in the empty city as abandoned cars as a trap for the Cons..oh and Hot Rod being a flashy cocky red car... Then again, I wouldn't say it's worse than ROTF, so maybe there is hope for TF3.
That 2007 script treatment is terrible! It's akin to fan fiction! If Kruger is responsible for that then I vote a big, gigantic NAY!
It's rumored. It was said it was not written by a fan, Kruger entered the project a little after and there's several similarities between the two, if you look closely. Also, the blackned by-line of the script has an "... Er" in the ending. ^ What's the problem with it? I, for one, tough it was seriously great.
Is the leaked script you guys talking about the one with a grand canyon fight? Because that shit was freaking awesome, not to mention it had a pretty cool Starscream.
Someone needs to lay off the sugar, go watch the first movie again (Cause it was awesome) and calm the eff down.
Perhaps not all of the time, but for Transformers I think it's a good sign. Let's face it, Transformers really isn't that hard to write. All you have to do is basically know the mythos and use characters that are regulars in the previous series (i.e. Optimus Prime, Megatron, and Starscream). Hell, even Beast Wars, which is easily the most different in comparison to the rest of the franchise, had variations of Optimus and Megaton as the leaders. Throw in some good action and some quotes from G1 and , like it or not, you have a solid TF universe on your hands.
The one where Magnus and Hot Rod fight Devastator? That script is surprisingly good. If Kruger did that then I go from giving him kudos to giving him my blessing. That was awesome stuff.
Don't forget the focused sound laser that Soundwave fired, as well his ability to revive Decepticons. All excellent ideas.
I skimmed through his 2007 script and that does look pretty amazing. Darker and more complex than the ROTF final product, and I loved how many scenes were shot on Seibertron. Plus, it seemed that there was more to the Decepticons than cannon fodder for the Autobots and humans.
I'd be for that treatment being TF3 (with key revisions of course to reflect on what happened in ROTF). I especially love Magnus' entry, with the cars jumping off the carrier.
Of the movies he's wrotten I've only seen the Ring, which I didn't really care forbut I did like that line he wrote that line for 'Screamer so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.
I know he wrote Arlington Road and Brothers Grimm, both movies, specially Arlington Road, are pretty good IMO.
Even if Kruger does know his Transformers, I highly doubt he'll be able to save the movie series from sinking any further.
