I have both of these (mainly for the clear blue Rodimus and clear purple Cyclonus) and really do like the sets as a whole... I like Galvatron least but he's still a good figure. Looking at them got me wondering about some of them and their colours with reasons for them.

For instance, is the clear blue of Rodimus reminiscent of the moment he first holds the matrix in the '86 movie, as he turns all blue with the blue light on screen, or is there some other explanation for it? Similarly with Galvatron, Scourge and Cyclonus - have they been made in a clear purple as they appeared in the digitised neon line images as they were made by Unicron?

I couldn't think of any other reasons why these characters would be cast in these colours, but I'm hazy on a lot of the comic stories and for all I know there could be many other explanations...

Exactly that. Both sets were inspired by scenes from/in the movie.

Since these were brought up, has anyone noticed what TFSource has them going for now? Wow.

cheers Black Magnus... and yeah, I just checked out that price on TF Source.... geeeez. I knew these could become fairly valuable, but damn that's a big jump and so soon too... I've only owned them since April(!)

Yeah, the toys represent those moments from the movie. Also, there was a Japanese text story that explained that those characters had been kidnapped by aliens who were going to put them in a museum where they're locked in those states, the "moments they were at their most powerful/came in contact with unique energy," and then Scrapheap freed them and they were able to fight in those states for a few minutes to destroy the alien

I wonder if it's another set they acquired either by from a return (change of heart) or second hand. They got another FP Defender and CC add-on kits and sold them for more than twice the original cost but it only looked like they had 1 or 2 of each of them.

Not that I'd be buying from them again any time soon, but still

Glad I got these sets in the beginning after looking at Tfsources price! I have them set up in my case with the 2010 Unicron.

I bought a loose Scrapheap. I mulled over buying the entire Autobot set, but didn't want to go through the hassle of selling off Kup and Rodimus. I heard that the latter two are very difficult to unload individually. Is this remotely true?

Expensive, is it? Funny, even eHobby can't get rid of thier 'Con set at original price.

I've sold my Scourge since BTW, the toy itself was nice but the white paint on him wasn't very flattering IMO.
