QuarterMan has been around a long time but his rumors don’t always pan out. Like much of the PS3 news coming out I’ll wait and see.
I read this a little bit ago but decided not to make the thread though. hehe Not sure if I believe it though, I can't really get past the "PlayStation 3 for the underpowered Nintendo Wii" bit. I think the Wii is gonna be amazing, but I don't think it's gonna be for all. I can't picture some long time franchises that just keep building on graphical power all of a sudden taking a dip.
It wouldn't surprise me if it is true. Wii is going for an all about change in the way we game while 360 is focusing on the community aspect and Live service. The main thing that the PS3 is offering is simply more of the same...updated graphics. I can completely understand developers viewing more of the same as becoming stagnant and wanting to hop on the new bandwagon.
There is no QuarterMan. QuarterMan is the alias of the entire EGM staff. they all pitch in on the rumor stuff.
I bet you walk up to small children and tell them there is no Santa too.
I remember hearing that Hideo Kojima wished he could drop MGS4 and make games for the Wii, but of course he isn't going to. Still, I imagine a lot of other developers are thinking the same thing. If they don't have pressing obligations to finish their projects, or they're in early enough stages to move, they just might do it.
Except they wouldn't be taking a dip, would they? Game Cube was significantly more powerful than the PS2 where the franchises you're talking about presumably come from. Wii is at least twice as powerful as Game Cube. Therefore it stands to reason that the Wii will be more than twice as powerful as a PS2, so these games can still have a significant graphics upgrade on Wii compared to their PS2 predecessors. Furthermore, if graphics-centric developers were content to make games on the PS2, the least powerful surviving console of the current generation, then developing on the least powerful console of the next generation isn't exactly a downgrade. Who knows if developers will actually be migrating or not, but it's plausible for a number of reasons.
MMO Burnout? It sounds so badass, but I don't want to pay two monthly fees and I alsready play CoX.
I know what you're saying, and I completely agree. And I always use RE4 as example of a system being pushed beyond is expected limits and with the Wii being twice as powerful as the GC, I think lots of the multi console games like Marvel Alliences, are gonna look surprisingly good. But none of that changes the fact the Wii isn't nearly as powerful of a system as the other two. And games like RE5 and MGS4 wouldn't look as good, or be as big, in terms of environments.
I want to be wrong though.
a lot of smaller developers are going to ditch the PS3 (and 360) just because the Wii devkit is only $2,000.
Could be true, I remember reading that it costs a third or more less to develop for the Wii than the compitition.
Take this with a grain of salt. This is the same magazine that said the FF7 tech demo was actually a preview for the ACTUAL REMAKE COMING ZOMG.
Which was piss poor reporting.
The same remake that square keeps hinting that they're doing?
I believe nothing until Squeenix outright says "FYI, we're remaking FFVII to drink from that sweet cash cow."
Yeah, it's still been rumored for a while and hasn't offically been denied yet.
And the fact this came from EGM is a surprise; they're so biased for Sony it hurts to read some of their reviews. I had to drop the mag becuase of their nonsense.
i heard otherwise, Square said there was no plans for a FFVII remake...especially with 3+ different FFXIII going on. But it would be nice....
and i think Devs are not leaving, their just going back to Nintendo...will they stay long, who knows.
I'd say about 25% of EGM's rumors pan out. The rest are just what they pick up on message boards.
Can't really say anything about either game though. No one outside of Konami and Capcom really know just how much they're pushing the PS3. Besides, if anyone can pull off such a feat, it's those two companies.
No offense but EGM is the same one that tried to claim the PS3 FF7 Demo was really a remake. That aside, I hope any company that abandons PS3 goes to X-Box as I have 0 plans of buying a Wii. I hate that ******ed controller.
There seems to be an echo in this thread...
