The BWII egg beasts are rather rare. In a recent thread, I got to speculating that they were perhaps as rare as the dinocasettes or headmaster heads. Maybe that was an overstatement, but the post got me thinking.

Since there already is a dial and saur thread, let's see how many eggs are out there compared to the dinotapes :)

    Which ones, what condition?

me: dark egg bird, egg bird, dark eggleo, eggleo, egg bot mosc

egg bot, dark egg bot loose

Exactly. They were released in 1998 in limited quantities as part of the BWII line. They were originally from Microchange (like the cassettes etc), and are the only pre-transformer molds to be released as transformers since browning in 1988.

    you can see them here:

Ooooh finally someone else who collects these!

I only have the normal egg bot mosc, however i do ahve the original Microman Metero Robo (GiG release) boxed leo and bot, sadly got to them too late at OTFCC a few years back to grab the boxed laserbeak-esque one too...

They kinda remind me of the G1 cassettes, in terms of design aestetic... except the eggbot, who really reminds me of the mini-con who came with Armada Unicron for some reason.

I got a set of those on my last visit to Japan back in 98. I liked the Leo and Bird eggs, but the bot one was kinda... meh. (tho he does make a good moon)

At first, I thought they were knock-offs but did some research and discovered their origins. I'd recomend them but I don't think they're very rare. I remember seeing lots of them at shows up to about a year or two ago and they weren't that expensive.

In the past year or so, only one has shown up on ebay and none on yahoo. But as you say, prices are generally low. I have seen at least five each of the dinocassettes. But the reason they are more commonly sold is probably that the egg beasts still sell for cheap when you finally do find them, people aren't selling them for the money.

Thanks for the info on these! I have six of them on cards (don't know which ones) that I got in a big lot of BW2 stuff five or six years ago. I thought they were some crappy unofficial or Kabaya things, so I just blew them off. Going to have to dig them out.

Damn... I had that "Egg Bird" one back in the 80's (obviously not from the BWII toys). It was all silver, came with a little stand and a couple guns. I loved that little ball of bird!

When I saw the title of this thread I thought it was about the transforming egg-shaped creatures that were part of the He-Man line (Meteorbs, I believe?) I have the Lion and Alligator from that line, but now that I see these I want them badly. I obsess over the old Diaclone/Microman designs. They are just beautiful.
