I don't understand why they just don't make an animated movie about animated cartoon characters instead of going for weird "realistic" CGI. Really, why is Spot a real (and seemingly non-striped) cat while Hong Kong Phooey is anthropomorphic? And you lose the enigma on whether Marvin's head is actually a black ball or if it's just in shadow. And that kid in the Marvin clip looks annoying as fuck. Marvin is wonderfully faithful (they even got the feet flurry thing right!) but that kid prevents me from even considering seeing the movie.
The latter, because Hollywood thinks their audiences are dumb and will laugh at the lowest forms of humor. Money. Hollywood's logic (that being no logic at all) is that if it's CG, it's guaranteed to get them the green stuff. Hand-drawn is so yesteryear, let's use CG because it's cheaper and easier to use!
I wouldn't mind that either, but in light of recent events an animated character waving a gun at a kid (from the clip) wont fly with many of these anti gun nuts.
Sadly Penry is now a "Real Dog" Given Kung-fu powers and the ability to Walk and Talk Human seeing as this is "cartoon in the real world movie."
