This guy started as the 1989 ED-209 Horizon Vinyl model kit. I added articulation to him at the shoulders, elbows, waist, hips and thighs(all ratcheting joints), as well as adding hinges to his toes. I also added the hoses to his "back" to match the movie model, and some wires running from the control module to his rocket launcher. I then painted him up to match his look in the movie. Thanks for checking him out!
Does it come with the "actually competent at its job" upgrade package? Jokes aside, that looks GREAT! Just like the model used in the movie.
I think those are both about 7 inches tall right? He is 11 inches tall, so he is the perfect scale for them. I may pick up the one that is still at TRU, and "battle damage" him quick, as a bonus for the auction. He is up on e-bay now BTW. Thanks guys!
^lolz, this!! phenominal job.the added details and paintwork make him pop that much more!!! (now i miss my old cap firing original ed-209 )
Yep, pretty much. ED would need to be just a little bigger (or Robo smaller), but the difference is negligible. Here is the one I painted and assembled when I was in 5th grade next to the Neca Robocop: Robocop pictures by superquad7 - Photobucket
Thanks for the comp photo man! You were a great painter even in 5th grade! My ED actually gained a little height too from the waist articulation, so he may be good to go.
Thanks a lot! I still remember putting it together, and the thought after I got it and Robo (I have the Horizon Robocop kit as well) is that they needed articulation! I mean, these models are a step between statues and toys, really. As much as I really enjoy your work now, I would have been absolutely even more giddy in 5th grade. Yeah, the scale is really very minimal. I think the best way to tell is screenshots from Robocop, particularly the board room scene and the Robo vs. Ed fight in the OCP tower. One of the cool things I've found out is that all of the Horizon kits have been knocked off by repro kits. I'd say they're pretty spot on. I've been wanting to pick them up, but another robot hobby tends to get in the way often
Awesome to see This! It looks really good. I just found this figure in my parents attic! It's yellowed as hell but the mechanism still works. Just waist articulation..... iDD
