Wow. So he don't like the movie. No need to insult the guy. Not like Ebert himself forced you at gunpoint to read his writieings. Of course its not like Bay forces you to watch the movie either.

Maybe it is immatureity, or flamebateing, or just insecurity. But it is a big planet, we are all here together. More than enough room for people who love the film, hate the film, and everything inbetween.

So put the big boy panties on already M'kay?

I don't normally make it a point to just correct someone's spelling, but those just really bothered me >_>

the first one was a movie, it had a narrative, it flowed. why else do you think so many people are assuming Spielberg backed away giving free reign to Bay indluging his excesses. a fair few people thinking the same thing, there has to be something there right?

I agree with you. Iron Man and TDK, were masterpieces compared to Terminator and ROTF.
I really wanted to like them, but they were a disappointment.

I agree with him on the excessiveness; I'm not anywhere near that angered by it, but oh well.

Ebert's entitled to his opinion, I don't agree with him, but he's entitled to it. I think he's being a bit pretentious about what is supposed to be mindless entertainment, but then again I haven't won a pulitzer prize either, so who am I to criticize him. At least he didn't disrespect the obvious awesomeness that is Sideswipe.

I didn't read his review because frankly, I don't care. I enjoyed the movie, he didn't.

Though it does seem like he's throwing quite the little temper tantrum over it. Two articles about how much he hates the film? Wow.

Oh and for the record, one of Ebert's complaints about himself is that he likes too much.

Aaaaaand you've just proven you have no clue how a professional critic works.

    At all.

He gushed over Wall-E, he liked the first TF movie...he can most certainly say he liked a film if it's good.

But he's also allowed to be honest about a film that is swiftly seeming almost universally loathed by anyone who is a professional critic. Really, there are almost no critics, at all, saying they liked this.

No in this film they don't! Okay, maybe 4 of them do. That's about it. That's part of the problem.

Your view is also too simplistic. He brought up Iron Man because it is also a techno-driven action pic with lots of CG rendered character time.

Not even the less "serious" internet ones are liking it. Notice that lots of us here at TFW2005 who really, really wanted to like the film, who did like the first one, also have to admit it's massively flawed.

Ebert has been doing this for decades, his views are read by literally millions of people, his show with Gene Siskel and later that Roper guy was watched by a ton of people.

    Occam's razor...

"I didn't have a stop watch, but it seemed to me the elephantine action scenes were pretty much spaced out evenly through the movie. There was no starting out slow and building up to a big climax. The movie is pretty much all climax. The Autobots® and Decepticons® must not have read the warning label on their Viagra. At last we see what a four-hour erection looks like. "

this was my problem with the movie, no steady build, just a constant feel. there was no weight to the story nor did you care about any of the characters, it was just filled with cool moments. when prime killed the fallen, it was no different than when he killed demolisher, and that to me, is where the problem lies. it feels like a one note song. the film is enjoyable, but ultimately forgettable, which is what keeps it behind the rest of the pack in it's genre. the potential is there, it just seems like they are having a hard time finding it.

    Sigh.

Ebert's won a Pulitzer Prize for his work as a film critic. And he's a cancer survivor.

I severely doubt he is going to lose much sleep over the heat he's getting from members of this board.

This. I can understand where most reviewers are coming from, but if for one moment they would deny the awesomeness that was Sideswipe, they would lose all credibility for me.

Ebert sounds really desperate to convince people to not see Tf:ROTF,and he should shut the hell up about how much he loathes it imo,he already made his point when he reviewed the damn movie.
