It is getting to the point I don't even want to sell on ebay anymore. They are now making it mandatory to have a shipping time dealine listed and all items have to have a return policy. This imo sucks!I used to do returns untill I had guys buy my minty stuff and send back junk crap and try to scam me.Here is a pasted copy of thier email.

Exciting changes are coming this June that will make it faster and easier for you to sell your items on eBay.

    Easier, more visual shopping
New item page with bigger pictures
Product pages for popular items likes CDs, DVDs, video cameras, and cell phones
Variations of a product--e.g. color and size--in one listing
New incentives for buyers including Daily Deals, coupons, and rewards

    Key information right up front
New Smart FAQ answers top questions about a listing
Package tracking right in My eBay
Return policy and handling time required in new listings

More great ways to make buying and selling easy
Ship from home! Pay for shipping and print the shipping label right on eBay. Plus, order free boxes and schedule a free package pickup.
New, more efficient process for resolving disputes
FREE Selling Manager to help you sell more
Get more information on these updates.

man, they really are trying to kill off casual sellers aren't they? what are people in canada supposed to do? canada customs are pretty well known to randomly hold things for a month with no explanation whatsoever. i won't be able to do any international shipping.

They are also trying to make it where you have to ship with paypal shipping right through ebay too so they can track the item and triple dip in our cash.

If they somehow force me to use that useless "pay for shipping label" thing, that'd actually chase me off of selling on ebay. :(

E-bay for some reason does not understand that I live in Canada and thus picking which USPS shipping method is impossible. I live in Canada and it says "Ships internationally to: Canada".

    E-bay is seriously fucked up.

According to the pasted letter it only says handling NOT shipping, big difference. Handling is how many days you expect to take before you bring the package to the parcel carrier. As for the return policy it's a bunch of shit, there's no way to guarantee that you'll get your product back with ou paying for return shipping, even then you're boned unless you insured the package.

There are alot of links that did not parse as they should of.I've been readin it all most of the night.

Everything is changing over next month. They are even setting it up where you can't use hotmail links in the text to post pics. You will have to pay for each and every pic you post even if it is self hosted or links or other wise. They are trying to get everybody to ship through ebay paypal shipping so they can track it through ebay.Go in and start reading the anouncments and new changes. The more I read the more pissed I get.

Looks like I'll be closing my account very soon.

Well my printer is broken and when it wasn't that eBay shipping never printed for me. If they make me use it they better reimburse me and my customers when the package with the big "eBay " and "Paypal" sign on it is stolen

This. I've never used eBay a day in my life, much better prices and people at the Exchange.

A shipping time deadline is a GREAT thing. I've had to wait weeks in the past to get stuff that should have only taken a few days thanks to lazy excuse-ridden sellers. "Oh, sorry, had a death in the family" - right.

As for the rest - meh.

Why don't they just come right out and say, "if you don't do a thousand dollars of business every week, we don't want you here. Buh, bye." I gave up selling after the last round of seller changes. This sounds like it should kill off the rest of the casual sellers quickly enough. Anybody not bright enough to get it should have their account suspended for them within a month of the changes going live.

It's too bad, because I've got plenty of things I'd like to sell that fall outside the Transformers realm and thus wouldn't fit in the Junkion exchange, but what the heck. It's getting to where the garbageman is a more tasteful alternative than eBay.

Unless I'm misinterpreting, this change wouldn't necessarily mean that sellers have to take returns, just that a seller has to list what their policy is... and "No returns" is a perfectly valid return policy.

The other stuff kind of sucks though, not that I'd personally do any business on eBay in a billion years. Junkion Exchange, FTW.

I'm not going to lie I do like the idea of the shipping time deadline since I've bought from a few people who take their sweet ass time. but the rest I dunno it seems like they want to turn Ebay into a front for smaller shops rather then what it started of as

That's what I was thinking. Yes everyone has to state a return policy, but as Scantron said, a return policy of "No Returns" is perfectly valid. As for handling time, here's hoping it's just a text field to enter stuff like "Can only ship on Saturdays" or stuff like that.

This of course assume Ebay make these criteria a text field and not some drop down list filled with one irritating option after another.
