Update: eBay just refunded me through Paypal. What should I do? Wait till the TFs arrive, then send the seller payment again?

Hey guys, I don't know where to put this but since it is eBay related maybe I can get some help here. I've recently opened a case against a seller who did not ship my TF for a month.

Now after opening a case, eBay gives the seller 7 days to contact me, he did but it was explaining why he did not answer my messages due to emergencies and not with a tracking number. So the 7 days was up and eBay prompted me to give them details on whether or not the seller had contacted me.

I told them yes, but he did not provide me with a tracking number. So now I was told that I won't have to do anything and eBay will handle it. Then I shot another message to the seller and what do you know, the next day he gives me the tracking.

But that is after the 7 days and now I can't close the case. I've tried calling eBay but I've read that it is almost impossible to get a rep on the phone and I've tried....what do I do? Should I try and close the case by talking to a rep or just wait till my item arrives? I feel bad since he gave me the tracking already, but the case is still open.

    Sorry for the read.

    I think you're being stalled.

"Family problems" is probably the oldest excuse in the book. Maybe he really did have family problems, but he didn't ship it for a month? Must have been some major family problems.

Don't do anything until you have the item in question in hand, and you can be sure it's what you paid for.

After that, do what you can within eBay's framework. Beyond a certain point, this isn't your problem.

Once you've paid, he can't leave you negative feedback.

So since he gave me the tracking, I shouldn't try to close the case just yet right?

Do not close the case until the item arrives. Once the items arrives, you can close the case, or the seller can submit the tracking number to ebay, and ebay will close the case once they verify that the item has been delivered.

ill echo what the others have said wait til you have the item in hand and inspect it to ensure its exactly what you purchased and the condition is as advertised then do what you can to close the case, if you do so before and you don't get what you ordered your in for headaches to get it fixed

    Ebay:
ebay will close the case after you have verified that the item is as it should be.
I had to go through this with a dead beat seller. It took almost 2 months to get my item.
Just wait for it to show up and see what happens.

    Ebay:
Boo on the whole 'family issues' excuse. Unless your whole damn family works at the only post office within 30 miles of your town, that's not a reason to speedily fulfill your commitment to sell. You can tell your seller I said that.

    alternatively: free transformers ;)

wait to see if they ever turn up, if they do take it from there. if anythng has been sent at all, he might have sent you a box of bricks for all you can tell at this stage.

But I've read somewhere that the seller gets whatever negative amount in his/her paypal that eBay refunded me. Is that correct?

Edit: I don't even know why I'm so worried about the seller lol....

No, the sellers account is negative because you now have your money back.

If paypal refunded you, that meant the seller did not respond to the dispute within the time frame.

Looks like you got free toys, if the seller actually sent them.

So, if the seller did send the toys and he asks for payment again, should I pay him out of courtesy?

    The "correct" answer is yes.

But the choice is up to you.

I will if I really do end up receiving the toys. But the funny thing is, the seller did not mention or message me about the open case or the refund at all....I think I will be receiving some angry emails.

By the way, thanks for all the help guys.

Lead by example where he didn't.

I think the decent thing to do would be to send him a message through eBay saying you'll return his money once the package arrives in the condition expected.

Don't close the case until you get the items!! Family emergencies always happen after they have your money.... But if he did send them, I would do the right thing and pay for them(again)!!!

    "Family emergencies"?

99% of the time, that excuse is complete bullshit. I know from experience.
