    Hi all,

About 10 minutes ago something made the house shake quite violently for a few seconds, and BBC News are reporting a minor earthquake in the West Midlands!

Anyone else in the UK feel it?

    Yup!
I was chatting on MSN to Hiro Prime, and my room shook pretty damn violently.
    See Harlod? I was right...!

BBC News are reporting a tremor felt in the West Midlands - must have been pretty powerful as I'm about 150 miles north-east of there. I'm talking to a friend in Hampshire who felt it too.

4.7 on the Richter scale, epicentre in Hull of all places. BBC said it was reported as far away as Darlington (where I am) and Birmingham. Weird!

Small, very localised ones aren't that unusual - there were two in the UK last year. The last time a quake was felt over a large area was in the summer of 2002, and we've never had anything over a 5.0 on the Richter scale as far as I know.

    Hope everybody is ok.
We are used to earthquakes, here in CA, but even a 5 pointer will freak me out.

The Earthquake was pretty big, but apparently only one person was injured by a falling chimney.

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/7266136.stm

I felt it here, I knew straight away what it was, the ground rumbled and there wasn't any heavy traffic on the road outside.

I've actually been in 2 Earthquakes, one was in Greece, (quite a big one) and the one in the UK from a few years ago. Another time I thought it was an Earthquake (or something), but turned out to be the IRA bombing Canary Wharf...

I find it odd that when I was in school, we were told that because the UK sat directly in the middle of a tectonic plate it was impossible for the UK to get Earthquakes.

Now they're saying these Earthquakes are due to tectonic plates shifting underneath the surface plate we're on.

The shaking woke me up, if only because it made my Movie BB fall off of my shelf and onto my face, (which is lucky because Energon Omega supreme is right near him, that would have been much worse)

Nothing else took a shelfdive though, so thats a plus. The house isn't damaged either.

I seriously thought that my entire display area was going to fall over with everything in it.

It's the ones in the Sub-Basement, Level 4 I was worried about.
    Luckily they were all fine.

If it did then life would cease on this planet.

But I did sleep though the earthquake.
